Chrysler's SRT Group Readies Limited-Edition Models

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chrysler Group's Street Racing and Technology (SRT) will offer limited-edition models of three popular Dodge vehicles this summer.

New commemorative editions of the 2005 Dodge Viper SRT10, the 2005 Dodge SRT4 and the 2005 Dodge Ram SRT will feature blue "dual-fang" racing stripes over a white body color. The three vehicles will include unique interior features, a numbered plaque and a special limited-edition SRT book, the company said.

The commemorative edition package for the Viper SRT10 will add $4,550 to the vehicle's $85,645 sticker price. The commemorative SRT4 will add $1,600 to the car's $21,195 sticker price. The commemorative Ram SRT10 will add $4,500 to the truck's $46,525 sticker price.

What this means to you: SRT resonates with meaning for Mopar enthusiasts and collectors. Chrysler is finding some new traction with those who have a soft spot in their hearts for the company's heritage.

Great, another appearance stripe/badge edition. I hate it when automakers do this.

Why the hell would i want to spend $1,600 on this cosmetic package on the SRT-4 when that same amount can get me the performance ACR package as well as a turbo upgrades through Mopar parts? This whole stripe/badge package Seems like a whole lot of $$$$ for nothing. The prices it adds on to the Viper and SRT-10 Ram is even more rediculous.

I'd like to get an SRT-4 with spoiler and hoodscoop delete, standard wheels and a base Neon interior. I'll take mine in white and stick one of those rental car company stickers on the back.

I doubt the brakes would fit in standard rims.
