DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler group plans to introduce 25 vehicles in the United States in the next three years, dramatically accelerating the pace of debuts, its top executive said Wednesday.
Chrysler saw a colossial financial loss of over a billion dollars in just 1 quarter, and in what is in typical Daimler fashion, they closed Chrysler plants, cancelled Chrysler's new product plans (the M80 truck & the local Sprinter van production took direct hits), while sitting on and procrastinatin on a phalynx of new products that could bring Chrysler back with a vengence IMO.
The products I know that are comming of that 25 are 3 LX cars (2 sedans and a wagon... we already have seen), the Stratus and Sebring coupe and sedan replacements (4 cars), at least 1 new FWD convertible, a new Neon with a possible return of the Neon coupe (2), a new convertible PT Cruiser, then a redesigned version with possibly a 2 door version as well (2), the upcomming Durango then Dakota (2), & 2 redone Jeeps. If they are counting the SRT-10 Ram, than throw that in as well.
The vehicles they were sitting on, which may or may not be a part of this is the AWD Avenger and it's Chrysler counterpart, the LX based performance coupe, the Solstice-like Dodge Razor (which would have a different name and come in both coupe and convertible), 2 Mitsubishi based sedans based on the upcoming new Diamante.
I doubt DCX approved everything (I'd be shocked if they did), so I'm betting this 25 new vehicles also includes different versions of new vehicles to get that 25 figure.
Still, it's a big change over their direction just over a month ago.
