Chrysler Concept (Code Name: Firepower) Chrysler brand standards of elegance, refinement and affordability are executed with precision and passion in this “grand tourer” concept, currently code named "Firepower." Powered by a 6.1-liter HEMI V8, the Viper-based vehicle is rooted in a feeling of luxury and performance through sleek design and precise engineering. The Chrysler-branded concept pushes beyond the "sports car" realm by blending expressive detail and engineering. The two-seater concept features a tinted glass roof that extends to the rear liftgate, allowing driver and passenger an enhanced feeling of spaciousness

Sure sounds like a Corvette fighter to me. If it goes into production (and I assume it will since every other significant DCX concept over the last few years has), I have to give them credit for at least trying to take on Corvette, something that Ford has never had an interest (ability?) to do.

Im wondering, as I have been for awhile now, why Crossfire doesnt take this on. A Crossfire with a 6.1L would be bad-***. This thing will be too, but wont it's Viper roots drive its cost up?

Getting rid of the POS Crossfire though... that car did NOTHING well.
If it dropped Viper's price, then it's hard to say what'd happen - most likely the Firepower would still be overpriced compared to the vette, and that means Z06 territory (perhaps) and below a Viper. Not a good place to be if you want to move cars.
If you want speed and luxury you're probably NOT buying a Chrysler. Those that want the cars for luxury want it, and want status - and that means BMW or Mercedes or maybe Lexus...

This is a good thing for the Corvette.
Truthfully, I'd imagine that most people buy the Corvette because it's a Corvette - both enthuiast and non-enthuiast. If Mercedes had their hands on the design then you know the interior on it is amazing, and if you can fault the C6 for anything that's not subjective, it's the fact that the interior is not as great as it could be. Granted, it's a huge step over a C5, but if competition makes it be that much better, it's a beautiful thing.

I'd be interested in the price cause last i checked, the 320 some hp Crossfire SRT-6 was overpriced at near 47,000 dollars for coupe and 50,000 dollars for convertible.
Unless this one undercuts the SRT-6 (which i doubt), C6 will still be the king of bang for your buck in the sports car department. Personally, i think they'll price this firepower (if it sees production) in the 60k's, and for that price, c6 or z06 would most definitly be the better buy.
