Chrysler on a financial roll (outearning GM & Ford...and gaining market share!)

[b]
Chrysler’s U.S. market share has climbed slightly to 13.5 percent this year, while General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. have lost share. But in the second quarter, Chrysler earned more money on smaller volume than its bigger Detroit rivals.

GM’s North American automotive operations earned $328 million in the second quarter, while Ford’s pre-tax profits for all of the Americas came in at $477 million...

...Operating profit more than tripled to $2.5 billion.

Since when did Bentley AKA VW cease to be associated with "euro"?

Dead? No. Living? We'll see.

isn't it funny how less than a year ago everyone was spelling doom for Chrysler? the Mopar boys sure have a rollercoster to ride following all the Chrysler news. it could be bad, but it could also turn around and be good. where the hell is our rollercoster? so far it just seems like GM is heading down. steeper and steeper each day. :blah:

Chrysler seems to do this alot (returning from the dead as the life of the party). The K-car in the late 70s, the LH in the early 90s, and now the LX.

The problem was Germany wasn't letting Chrysler release any products. The LX cars were initially planned for 2001 release (including the Charger & Chronos, which evolved into the 300 while in limbo), the new Neon should have been out by now, the 300 convertible concept was within a year and a half of production when shown.

I'm glad Chrysler proved me wrong, and now that it's Chrysler that's earning the only profits at DaimlerChrysler (both Mercedes and Mitsubishi are in the red )

It makes sense since theyre the only ones taking chances (in other words breaking these unwritten rules GM rarely breaks) and actually making some cool cars.

I also have to point out the styling differences between the two. Just about everything in their lineup besides the new dakota/durango looks awesome. Id have to say the exact opposite about GM... I only like the vette and maybe the SSR.

Chrysler does seem to be doing a lot of things "right" lately. They gave the sport-compact market what they wanted, and the 300C is already a hit.

What particular unwritten laws are they breaking? Be specific.

You like only the SSR and 'vette, and that's nice. What vehicle from DCX do it for you in their lineup. WHich one will you potentially buy today?

Fair enough, please provide an example from either decade you reference that remotely resembles the 300c.

Chrysler does seem to have nine lives. I'm glad they have turned around. I wonder how many more times they can do this before something bad happens.
