Chrysler to create separate “Ram” brand for trucks?
Yesterday, we told you about Fiat’s master plan for the Chrysler Group, including turning Dodge into a sports car brand and transforming Chrysler into a Cadillac rival. But how would Dodge’s badass pickup trucks possibly fit into a sports car lineup? If latest rumors are to be believed, they wouldn’t.
A proposal reportedly under consideration would see Dodge’s trucks amputated from its lineup and placed into a whole new division called, not surprisingly, Ram. Such a move would free the Dodge range of commercial trucks, enabling it to focus on performance-oriented vehicles, reports Edmunds.
Although company officials have not confirmed this rumor, it sounds logical enough. But some of the specifics remain a mystery. For example, will Dodge continue to sell SUVs? Similarly, will the Ram brand focus on pickup trucks only, or will SUVs come in to the mix?
There are many unanswered questions, but there’s no doubt these months ahead will be an interesting time for Chrysler.

I can't remember last time I heard someone talk about their "Ram" pickup...but they sure do like their Dodge. You would thing bad *** trucks and performance cars would fit great togethor and have a similar target demographic. Anyway...what do you save? All I see are added marketing costs. Only upside is maybe then Dodge cars could get a better looking logo than the Ram head.

So then, would you have a Ram Ram??
"Wow, what kind of truck is that?"
"It's a Ram."
"Who makes that?"
"Ram"
"I asked who made it, not what it was."
"It's a Ram."
"Geez, you don't have to be an *** about it."

I guess I just don't understand the point. Maybe that's why I didn't major in marketing.
Remember the rumors about Corvette being its own brand?
Toyota wants to badge all their hybrids as "Prius"?
Chrysler Corp. wants to split off Ram from Dodge as its own brand?

It would probably be called 1500, 2500, etc... Only speculating though.

Very true.
Yeah that would be the only good reason I can think of even though they are claiming Dodge will become a sports car only brand...
