Choppers are sooo yesterday.

Chopperflop

As with any fad, the hotter it gets, the harder it falls. With girls buying OCC shirts at Wal-Mart, this anti-establishment fad seems to have gone a bit too mainstream.

Re: Choppers are sooo yesterday.

Even Jessie James knows the days of Choppers being cool are numbered. He has even said on numerous occassions he got into riding and building choppers to **** everyone off , but now families stop by West coast chopper to pick of some shirts and caps on their way to Disneyland.

If there are two trends that have been played-out here in southern California is kids modding Civics pretending they are street racers and old babyboomer buying Harleys and super-expensive $75,000+ custom choppers pretending like they're rebels.

As far as I'm concerned, choppers are sooo 1970. Used to be biker meant badass. These days Harleys are bought by dentists and accountants (and their wives).

Future Vehicle Discussion?

Its always funny when you see some middle-aged business guy on a bike trying to wave to a real biker-life guy

I dont own a bike but I will say this, I would rather have Harley's on the road then "rice rockets". Sit most of them next to a Harley and it looks like a man standing next to a woman. I just cant get past how gay 95% of *** bikes look. And the way most of those guys drive makes me wish there were real bikers to teach them how to ride like they have sense.

Future of choppers, which last time I checked, was a vehicle. Trends and what not, don't click if you don't want to read.

Don't care for choppers, but I'll take a Harley over any other bike any day of the week. Make mine a FXDWG Wide Glide, candy brandywine please.

Personal preference.

Re: Choppers are sooo yesterday.

I've been riding for nearly 20 years and what I've found interesting is the "real" bikers (meaning those who enjoy riding for the sake of riding) are not Harley guys anymore.

Almost all Harley owners I know buy these bikes only wanting to attract attention to themselves and that goes for the latest chopper crowd as well. They could care less how the bike performs; acceleration, handling, braking...that doesn't matter...as long as it looks cool and has the right label. Kind of like todays Fast and Furious ricer crowd.

This isn't a dig against guys who own/like Harleys. I used to own one and enjoyed it for what it was.

I think its actually silly that a Harley guy won't wave to another biker unless its another Harley. Just goes to show that for him, profiling is more important than the sport itself.

Re: Choppers are sooo yesterday.

Ive loved Harleys since I was a little kid, and will be buyin one come the spring, ill be 20 then. I will not be buying it to get chicks, attract attention or any of that crap. The one tme my dad let me ride his harley was so awesome to me, the sound, the look, and the feeling of freedom are what makes me wanna ride. for choppers thats sorta how it started. I feel that there still are alot of people that want to ride, for the sake of riding not for looks.... I dont like japanese bikes, but Im not gonna bash them just the idiots that swerve at 100+ on the highway thru traffic.

I wouldnt even call most of the choppers they show on tv choppers, rather custom motorcycles. And once something gets exposure it will grow, maybe it hit its peak and will drop down that doesnt make it less "real" or less then it once was. There will still be people that want a bike cause they like it and want to ride, tht will never go away so choppers will be around for a while.

Re: Choppers are sooo yesterday.

The choppers from WCC and from OCC are meant to be "trailer bikes" anyway. I can't see where anyone in there right mind would drive one of those bikes alot. There is no way I would spend almost 100,000 for a custom chopper, I'm not into the Crotch rocket scene---I hate those bikes, it seems most of the people who have them drive like they want to be in a body bag. I would lean toward the cruiser style of bike. (a V-Rod is my favorite right now).

Re: Choppers are sooo yesterday.

I have a rocket just got it this year as a matter of fact. My dad, brother and most all of the other bikes I ride with are HOGS and I get waves when with them, but on my own about 50% of the HOG riders wave the rest dont.

I would have loved to get a Buell or a V-Rod but for a young man with a up and coming family the american bikes just are not in the cards. My Suzuki is a 1200 I paid $6700 for it out the door and it will out run a buell that costs $11000, those bikes are really over priced. And the Soft tail or V Rod cost around $16000 before all the dealer addons.

I like my sportbike. How else do you go 9 seconds in a quarter mile and still be stock, pull down 30+ MPG and be geared to run 190+mph?
