Chevy concepts and clues to design
Chevy concepts and clues to design
I have been thinking tonight of how Chevy likes to hide some things in plain sight. Guy has said numerous times that the Nomad, not the Kappa one the F-body based one, shares design elements with what was at the time the design direction of Camaro. I also have been looking at the Bel Air concept, I know it is on GMT355 and was just a styling showcase but when looking at the details I can easliy see where some visual cues are on current cars. The Bel Air grill is practically the same as the 00-05 Impala. The headlamps are single bulb versions of the 06 Impala and Monte. The rear tail lights look like they came straight off the Malibu Maxx. The Chevy SS concept clearly has Corvette inspired arched fenders and gills behind the front tire that are definately similar to 69 chevy gills. The question/point I am trying to make is: What else could have been shown and dismissed by most that did or could have influenced the Jan 06 NAIAS Camaro concept? What clues has Chevy shown us that we can look forward to? We know the car will have heritage but what parts can we look for?
Thought I would throw out some eye candy: I lowered the Bel Air in photoshop to see how people would react.

Chop of the Bel Air with the 06 Monte grill instead of its one peice grill.
revised grill

Re: Chevy concepts and clues to design
i'm still leanign towards the 5th gen to look very similar to horton's 3D rendition of crispey's car(the one in PHR). there have been a few not so subtle hints in another thread this week by guy and josh. and i definetly see what you're saying about the belair concept and what GM has on the road now. maybe we've seen our new camaro already. who knows. i think this needs some digging along the lines of finding pics from NAIAS from about 2000 til 05.
