Chevrolet line up??
Chevrolet line up??
Okay, I live in Canada and just went to the Calgary autoshow. (no XLR, or Solstice
but thats another story)
Heres what struck me as odd.
Chevolet Aveo (rebadged Daewoo)
Chevrolet Optra (rebadged Daewoo)
Chevrolet Epica (rebadged Daeowoo)
Think 3/4 scale Impala witha 155hp 2.5 V6---hmm an Accord 4cly, 2.4L has more power
Chevrolet Malibu (looks not bad in person)
Chevy Cavalier
Chevy Impala
Thats six cars and many seem to overlap with eachother! Are they really selling all 6???
THe saleman I talked to was pretty dumb, he said yes. (but he also said the Cavalier was a GREAT car--I reminded hime the platform was 9 years old)
Is this some strategy for Chevy to drastically increase their sales???

I don't get it either. I understand that we in Canada typically don't have the buying power our US brethren do, and so we purchase a larger percentage of low-end vehicles, but c'mon, three rebadged Daewoos? And I would assume they would all be slotted below the Cavalier. Maybe this is a tactic to quit selling Cavaliers at the fire-sale price of (and huge loss at) $12,000, though I can't see anyone willingly paying anything higher for a Cav.
I thought that the new mantra at GM was fewer models, not more. Sadly, these three Daewoos, plus the next-gen minivan quadruplets, indicate otherwise.

God that Canadian line up sucks, At least you still have the Vette, thats about the only fun car left in the chevy lineup, The new S/C Impala and Monte are a step in the right direction. Too bad Chevy doesn't make a car that fits in between the Monte Carlo SS and the Vette
