Challenger a "go" with 6.1 and 6 speed only?
From Allpar:
“As of yesterday (Feb. 9), Challenger was given a “go” by management. Model year unknown. 6.1 liter Hemi and 6-speed manual transmission only.” — “Der Spien,” a former engineer with DCX.

They'll have no problems selling every one. Dodge guys have been starved of a RWD coupe for ever!
Although there should be a 5.7L Hemi and an automatic too

I'd imagine GTO helped make the case for the Challenger, since it seems it's going to be marketed the same way: a high performance Grand Touring coupe.
Holden's business case for the Monaro was set up to be profitable at 3 years at 5,000 per. Monaro made extra money for GM when it was extended an additional 2 years (10,000 more cars) and was exported to the US as the GTO (another 50,000 plus cars).
Given that the Challenger is also based off a sedan platform that sells in almost the same numbers and has more extensive sheetmetal and interior changes, it's no small reach to think it can be profitable selling 10-12K per year average for 5 years at the same price GTO did.
It's not going to make Chrysler rich, but Chrysler should make money off the cars, and get an image boost to boot.

Maybe not a V6, considering the heft.
I would think the regular 5.7L 340 hp HEMI, in a package with regular monotone paint w/o graphics would do nothing but good things for it.

It's facinating that the Challenger is readily accepted in the Camaro community, yet the Mustang seems to stir up quite a few haters. Why is that?
On the flip side, it seems the Mustang guys want Camaro back almost as much as Camaro guys.
The whole thing's pretty amazing.
