28 GRAND for a G6 that isn't even quite loaded (no side airbags or panoramic roof)??!?!?
GM is out of their mind.
Isn't the G6 supposed to be their more value-oriented car, with the GP filling in the pricier slot?
Add on the side airbags and panoramic roof to get a fully loaded model and I'd assume you're talking almost 30k including destination.
You're talking the price range for the all new 06 Lexus IS250, the Acura TL, Acura TSX, base model G35, etc, etc... all which come standard with most everything that G6 minus the panoramic roof.
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that price tag in a category where that car simply can't compete?

I don't expect them to use real wood in that car, because you're right, very few if any cars use real wood in that price range. In fact the cheapest car I can name off hand that uses real wood (and plenty of it) is the ES330, and it's in the low 30s luxury range, not the high 20s sports coupe range.

The GTP coupe looks pretty sharp in person. But when you get to that price point, you have lots of choices.

FWIW, I've seen the FAKE wood in the G6, and it looks pretty damn good to me. It looks as good as what I assume is FAKE wood in my friend's '02 I35, for that matter. If the Infiniti is real, then that's the "fakest" real wood I ever saw. The G35 I do not believe uses real wood either, and looks about the same to me. Give Pontiac some credit for dressing up one of its cars before everyone bashes them for it.
Guys, give the car a little bit of credit...just maybe? Sure there's a lot of choices for $28k. Show me another car (especially a coupe) that gives you ALL of what the GTP gives you for the same $$. Threxx, go ahead and bash it for no side airbags and no panoramic roof...but show me another car for $28k that has ALL the bases covered that the G6s at that level have. The closest I can think of is the Accord...
And I'll take a G6 over that ugly a** Accord, any day...

28K is rediculus....though I am betting there is some rebate built in. I dunno how they can replace the GA that could be bought loaded for under 22K all day. Hell, you can get a top of the line Grand Prix without Nav for $25-26K and maybe less!
As for the Woodgrain...it seems really out of place in the G6, and on a Pontiac in general. It looks almost as stupid as the carbon fiber in the Bonneville GXP. Really...if the G6 target audience is young-middle aged women...not many of them I know like wood grain.

I agree that woodgrain really doesn't fit into the character of the car. Until recently, Infiniti did use some pretty lame looking fake wood in their Q45, I35, and QX4. I used to detail cars for the Infiniti dealership.
I do believe there is quite a bit of rebate built into the price, as the G6 has a $2500 rebate right now.

Maybe it looks good to you, but I prefer real wood, or no wood. If you're going to use fake wood then just do something else like aluminum or just nicely painted plastic. Fake wood all looks fake to me.

GXP version will be out later and probably have a HF DOHC 3.6L V6. Not bad but I'd rather see a boosted HF or HV V6 engine (anyone know if the LS4 fits )

And yet, the fact remains...no one here has driven the car, no one here save for Charlie and a handful of others have seen one in person, and no one knows a damn thing about it other than a picture and a price. Give the car time...granted, I haven't seen one in person either. But I find it funny that, for everyone complaining about the price, show me another car in its class that has EVERYTHING the G6 has for the same $$$!!! The Accord is probably closest, and I think its the same price or a little higher...and again, I'll take a G6 over an Accord any day.
formula,
With all due respect, from one GP owner to another, I'll take a G6 GTP any day over all GPs save possibly the GXP...and that one is obviously more expensive. I agree, in terms of size for the $, GP blows away a G6. But, for me the design of the G6 is far superior and offers some nice features (aka big *** sunroof ) the GP lacks. People always complain about the price, but then ignore how many features this car comes with.
When you consider a Grand Am GT with the SC/T hood stickered for $25k (!!!!!!!!) that didn't even have leather, and we sold a slew of them with a $3k rebate, what the hell is the matter with a $26,700 G6 GTP coupe with more equipment, Stabili-Trak, XM, 6 CD changer, 240hp, a 6 speed etc. for $1,700 more with say, a $1k rebate?
Unless a car has 400hp and costs $19,995, some of you guys are too damn hard to please
