Off topic: has anyone seen the Ford ads trumpeting their "best in the industry" 5-year, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty? I wonder how long it'll take before GM issues a "cease and desist".....

The American press didn't rip on the Monaro/GTO. Just Car & Driver Magazine.

C&D gave an initial glowing report on the car, then mysteriously bagen ripping on the GTO big time in their TV show on the car, then in a magazine article that 1st gave a decent review, then seemed to turn on it, then you read about how they took the car to an unauthorized race and apparently screwed it up and won the wrath of GM over it. It apparently was Car & Driver that Bob Lutz was directing his tirade and threat of withdrawing GM advertizing dollars.

Most all of the press loved the car but thought the styling was a little dull (which is OK with me because I prefer sleepers ).

That's what prompted me to start this thread. There's been alot of great new car commercials over the years. While Chrysler seems to have a lock on them recently, there's plenty of great ones that's shown up over the years.

I want to also post the SSR's "Soap" commercial. If anyone finds it before me, pleas post.

 

The GTO may look "dull" but IMO that silver Vauxhall looked meaner and had more attitude than the GTO. so much so that I think it even looks better than the 300C in that 3-way comparo. Currently, in terms of looks, I prefer the 300C over the 2004 GTO. 05 and later GTOs certainly has more of my attention. but if there's an option here for that Vauxhall, I'll be in trouble for getting into yet another car debt (I just recently paid off both of my vehicles and currently car-debt free).
