Car buyers sue Ford over limited edition vehicle
Of course I would be mad if I thought I would have owned one of a very limited number. With that said, I am not stupid enough to believe that any car is a one off, and the car manufacturer doesn't reserve the right to use the name plate in the future when they feel like it.
Some Recent Name Plates that came back from the dead:
GTO
GT500
ZO6
ZR1
Cobra
Camaro SS
Camaro RS
WS.6
Ford GT
Challenger
Bullitt
Rumblebee
etc...
The big three always find a way to cash in on prior success...

No, it'd devalue all 200 of them. With that said these people are morons (like the people who bought Shelby/Cobras as "collector's items" lol). And I personally like watching morons get their just due.
It doesn't "devalue" it. Just because there isn't much of something, doesn't make it really valuable. Specially if it's really similar to something else that there are a lot of, which there are thousands of examples here.
They must have seen that Sienfeld shtick...
I like the names they have for cars. Like, no baron has ever owned a LeBaron. Or the Ford LTD. "LTD." Limited. It's a "limited" edition...what did they make, fifty million of those? "Yes, it's 'limited' to the number we can sell." Or when they try and mangle a positive word into a car name, you know how they'll do that? The "Integra." Oh, integrity? No, Integra. The "Supra." Or the "Impreza." Yeah? Well, I hope it's not a "lemona"...or you'll be hearing from my "lawya."

I can sort of see their side- like all the Shelby Cobras that were just recently made, from 'leftover' parts- taking the value away from the 'real' Cobras built back in the 60's-
A lot of guys in here are so proud to quote the build numbers of their SS's- imagine if GMMG started releasing more Ernhard Intimidators or Black Wings- you don't think the guys that had the real originals would be crying foul?
That said, I think that most of these guys aren't even car enthusiasts, just speculaters that bought these cars as investments, not because they loved them. Maybe they should just go buy stocks instead-

Bad for the hobby and bad for the the business... If these clowns get thier way and open the door to a whole slew of things imagine where this could go. I guess the Bullitt and Mach 1 guys will be next then after Shelby croaks the GT500 guys will be all hurt and suicidal, then the Warriors In Pink guys will feel left out (sorry breast cancer, but the WiP Mustangs are just to valuable a commidity to let something like life threatening cancer get in the way)
All of them proud because nobody will ever be able to have a <insert I'm so special cause its a "limited edition" model here> again.
Of course in the long run, auto manufacturers and dealers will profit like never before as the list of SE's grow... Imagine the ADMS on the limited edition Dipp'n Dots 1 liter I3 Mustangs!
Yeah... America FTW!

- the short version
We were told by the Ford/Roush dealer and Roush's web-site that Roush was only making 100 Blackjacks period. The value of the car has already dropped considerably because they are making more. The main reason we purchased the car was because it was limited to 100 which made the car unique. The car simply was not worth the money if it wasn't truly limited. Ford and Roush practiced deceptive advertising (fraud) and that is illegal in this country. ALL 2007 Blackjack owners should realize their resale value dropped significantly when Roush decided to build more Blackjacks.
There is a great difference between 100 units and 200 or more units If you invest (which I guess you don't) you would understand. If you own a 2007 ROUSH Blackjack please respond. In 2007 it was advertised that (per the Roush web site) "This is an extremely limited run with only 100 Stage 3 BlackJack vehicles built exclusively for the discerning driver looking for a unique ride". Anyone who has any idea of law knows that this is deceptive advertising (consumer fraud).

during the 2007 model year.
The "during the 2007 model year" ends the whole debate. These people have nothing to sue for.
Now, if it didn't have that line in there, I think they had a very legitimate law suit on their hands. That one line eliminates it completely though.

Doesn't this still open a whole new view about "car enthusiasts" versus "investors" though?
I said years ago that people with LOTS of money were making it hard for the average working stiff to have something "nice". This just makes carmakers even less likely to invest the time and money, and to "take the chance" at limited-eds for us true enthusiasts IMO.
Frankly, I don't want buttheads like that in my hobby.

I totally agree... but, if you go into a major purchase, hobby or not, being told it's going to be a limited edition 1 of 100, and then they go and make more... I think the purchaser has a real, and legitimate complaint. Big time.
Again, though, the certificate displayed above clearly shows that the limited edition was for the 2007 model year and not "forever and ever until the Earth explodes"
Take the 2008 427 Z06 for example... limited to 427 units. Say they sell out real quick and GM decides, "what the heck, that went really well, let's make another 427 of them and sell those too!" Don't you think the people who bought the first 427 of them got screwed? I certainly do.
