I'm sure the automotive world didn't lose much in that decision...
I just wonder what's up with these Gen Y'ers and the ugly cars they are offered anyway...? Do these young people really buy these ugly creatures???
I thought I read an article somewhere not too long ago, that the average age of a buyer of the Honda Element was in the 40's (or at least in the high 30's...).
Maybe it is just a statistical thing (i.e. parents buying the car for their Gen Y'er, or something... )? Who knows...
TS
P.S. Anybody have pics of the new Scrambler...? Hopefully it's not another Gen Y thing...

A very good decision IMO.
Looks like it would've headed the same direction as Honda Element or Scion. Where the heck do these guys get the idea that Gen Y wants overdone plastic coated vehicles? The M80 format may be a good one, but the styling is all wrong.
How about sleek, aggresive looking vehicles with decent power and strong aftermarket support?

Those ugly gen-y cars are being bought by 40 years olds who are going through a midlife crisis and cant afford a new Vette.
They (40 year olds) buy what ever the trendy new car is that year so they pretend to be 19 again but today's 19 year olds think those cars are lame.
In one car magazine they stated the the Element might replace the Subaru Forester as the car of choice for 40 year old lesbians

And Joe K. also hit the nail in the head, I think.

I didn't think that M80 looked that bad, though - in person, it came off as a mini Power Wagon. I still get annoyed that they think that new product requires a new plant, though, especially with all their complaints about excess capability.

I was looking at cars one afternoon and talked with a Toyota salesman. He mentioned the fact that he hadnt sold many Matrix vehicles and the few that had been sold were all to men in their mid 40s and he thinks Toyota missed the mark in marketing them.
He also mentioned that the owner of the dealership was not going to carry the Scion brand. He thought the cars were extremely ugly and could not justify the initial startup investment Toyota wanted to carry the cars. He didnt think they would sell either.

Sounds like a smart man.
Matrix and Vibe are good cars. Styling is subjective, but they're not bad....They also have some good features that make them very practical and decent power and suspension to add to the driving experience. I would consider one if I needed a new car aside from the Camaro and I'm 27.
