Yup, was a trim level of the Chevelle, until the whole car line became "Malibu" in the 1978 downsizing. It was the top of the line trim until 1973 when it was replaced by the Laguna.

You are wrong.

My first car was a 1967 Chevelle Malibu. It was a two-door hard-top with a V8, 3-in-the-tree and deluxe interior with bench seating.

I don't believe a Malibu could be ordered in the post model, which all 4-doors were initially. (Until 1973?)

Malibu was available in both post sedan and 4 door pillarless "Hard Top" from 1966 to 1972.

Here is the bigger question: "Can you have a Chevelle with a GTO?" God knows you can't have a Firebird with a Camaro so I can't see how these two can exist.

My great Aunt is the original owner of a 73 Chevelle Malibu. 307, 3 speed auto, bench seats front/rear, black in and out. It's a 'grandma car', but in awesome shape.

Sorry, I should have actually said "1974" I was meaning to include the 1973 model - new body style started in 1974. I didn't really word that very well.
