Camry Tops The List Of American Made Cars, cars.com
This was an article of discussion on my local car forum. The Toyota plant that produces the Camry sits in my back yard, so there are some strong feelings involved.
My beef with this "study" is that criteria includes sales...something that would only aid Toyota's case. I'd like to see a domestic vs. foreign content per vehicle...
Your thoughts?

The Toyota Camry is the most American-made car, according to a recent study conducted by Cars.com. The site has ranked Camry as No.1 on its American-Made Index. The index rates vehicles with more than 75 percent domestic parts, built, and bought in the U.S. The index considers sales, where parts are made and where the vehicle is assembled. The Sienna came in sixth place, followed by the Tundra in seventh and the Venza rounding out the top 10. The Camry knocked the Ford F-150 out of first place, the first time it has not been on the top since the list's creation in 2006. With four models ranked, Toyota had the most top ten entries by any automaker.

This has already been posted. It also means nothing. Last year, the Camry didn't have enough domestic parts content to be considered.

Domestic parts content, in my opinion, means far more. Go further down in the article and see the domestic parts content, in which the Camry doesn't crack the top 10, nor does the F150 interestingly enough.

Is it more misleading then calling "American-Made Index?" They take part of the domestic parts content and sales to determine this. That makes no sense to me. I would like to know if there was a way to also include development costs into the cars. Not all Ford, GM, and Chrysler cars are developed 100% in the US. I believe not many of the other makes even have development centers in the US.
