Camaro/GTO clone poll
Camaro/GTO clone poll
There has been alot of "buzz" that GTO and Camaro will be mechanical and dimensional clones of each other....in the same way that Camaro/ Firebird or Cavalier/Sunfire were twins.
Is this a good or bad thing?
Personally, I'd like to see more differentiation. The Camaro is a Pony Car...the GTO is an intermediate. Making them identical gives us a too big Camaro or a too small GTO.

Re: Camaro/GTO clone poll
Hell no. People on this site wouldn't even except the Firebird as the clone of the Camaro, and they damn sure won't accept the GTO as such. Although, considering all the SUV/Truck clones between GM and Chevy, you can't tell me that GMs gives a damn.
Re: Camaro/GTO clone poll
It was one thing for Camaro and Firebird to be clones....they were both sporty pony cars aimed at the same segment.
It's another for a sporty pony car (Camaro), to be a clone of a larger coupe....about the size of a Bentley Continental GT.

I just hope GM does not completely blow this.

Re: Camaro/GTO clone poll
Maybe, history does repeat itself.. I would hope that they (GM) realizes that the two cars are meant for 2 different types of people. I would think with the way it used to be; that the GTO needs to be the luxury with a little extra room car and the Camaro would be the sportyier (spel?)version with a few extra go fast goodies and yes I also think they should go with the solid axle for the Camaro (be nice if it were a 12 bolt
) and leave the IRS for the GTO. But thats a different thread. Just my $0.02

That said, I do not want to simply see a rebadged GTO/Monaro called Camaro. If that is the direction GM is pursuing, then why not call it Lumina like they already do for the middle east version?

I hope they don't think that GTO is a Camaro.
