Camaro concept on the way?!
The Monaro, though fairly tall, is still much shorter and a little narrower than Camaro. It's kind of like parking a Volvo C70 coupe next to a Mustang. Both are roughly the same size, but on it's own without a comparison for size reference, Monaro just seems bigger.
Though it kind of bends the image of a 2+2, in size & configuration, I think it still qualifies.

I was told by a VERY reliable source that the SS would revive the Chevelle moniker if produced. And it would also slot in between the Malibu and Impala size wise.

If this car made production would it not hurt the Camaro tho??

So this would be a V8, RWD, around 100 inch wheelbase car called Chevelle? If it looks good sign me up!

According to this source it would remain a 4 door, and would be smaller because of 2 reasons. 1) If it were bigger, it would jeopardize the new W-bodies, and 2) There's not as much pressure, because they already have Epsilon to fall back on for volume sales.
I guess a Camaro version WOULD be feasible though.
I have also heard that Chevrolet is spear heading the new RWD movement, with Pontiac helping by opening doors for them since they are Lutz baby....... Originally Zarella said that only Buick, and Cadillac would get RWD vehicles.
Now, if all of this is true.... Then why wouldn't Chevrolet be working on a new Camaro?

What if the 4-door version of the "SS" is the Chevelle, and a 2 door, higher performance version....................the Camaro. I would like to see this but there might be too many vehicles in Chevrolet that are competing with each other or offer similar packages.
From what I understand, the Malibu replacement is moving down in size. Factor that in, with the potential for the Impala to move up to the size of the new Grand Prix, which I Think* is a little bigger. Then that opens up a nice gap to position a couple of new models.

While I agree the 4th gen overhangs are too long, it's not just the 4th gen.
All Camaros have had big overhangs, including the 3rd gen, which has the same exact wheelbase, and at least the same amount of overhang.
woah, your right.. a cavalier has a longer wheelbase than a camaro... when did that happen?!
I remeber Super Chevy had some sweet concept drawings of the Camaro and Chevelle. I was hoping they would do something like that.. or at least build a proto..
Anyways, i guess we just have to wait and see..

God how great it would be if it was the Camaro but that would never happen cause GM hit rock bottom. I blame it on today's youth who would rather go out and by some POS honda or Acura or what else other POS come out of japan. Because they would rather buy 140 HP trash instead of 325 HP american muscle we must now all suffer the demise of the camaro and Firebird and soon probably even the Vette or some other B.S. I still can't get over the fact that the camaro is gone and i may never get over it. All I know is that I will always buy them and rebuild them to roll down the steets in glory before I every buy some other crap (like mustang) or anything else.
Long live the CAMARO!!!!!!!!
Long live the CAMARO!!!!!!!!
