camaro concept at naias
camaro concept at naias
With the opel concept and all this talk about a new rwd platform, does anybody think that we will see a concept at this years detroit auto show?
A month ago i didn't think it was possible because of the c6. Now i'm starting to think that maybe, just maybe we will see some sort of concept. Maybe not called camaro, but at least a concept.
For all intensive purposes, it's 2004 already. That means 2007 is 3 years away. If gm was to come out with a concept now, they would have 2 to 3 years to develop a production version. If the car is slated to come out in 2007, we would see a production version in 2006, with a year to finalize production details.
So what if the SS was a design concept for the camaro. GM puts it out. Gets the feedback they're looking for. Then they work on the production version. I admit that i see a lot of camaro and corvette influences in the SS, but like i said it's just a design concept. The front end does kind of remind me of a 4th gen.
I think that we will see a chevy rwd concept.

RWD Concept? Likely.
Camaro? Doubt it.
Also a RWD coupe concept could be shown by any GM division and this concept could just as easily show up at Chicago or New York as it could at Detroit. Car makers like to have something at each show to get alot of press.

If I were a betting man I would say that GM would NOT show a concept with any Camaro name till '06. There could be a RWD coupe concept but I seriously doubt there will be a name to link it with Camaro... it may be some obscure designation to throw people off. I also think that the reason is because if GM is going to unveil the C6 and wants everyone's attention on that
I also think another brand is going to have a very interesting concept at NAIAS 05.

I think its been said that Holden will be shipping over more than one RWD car like the GTO, and there have been a lot of Lumina SS sightings in the states of late I believe.

Do you think Cadillac would ever have a CTS coupe concept? With the BMW 3 (and M3) as well as coupes coming from Mercedes and Audi, It would be about time for Cadillac to offer a new coupe.

I knwo the coupe market is a shrinking one, but I do believe that Cadillac needs a 3-series coupe fighter.... a CTC would be it!
I would bet on a Pontiac Solstice, maybe production ready maybe not. Also I WILL bet that Buick will have something new and different. We know the LaCrosse will be there but I think something else also. We shall see. Hopefully in Nov. just like last year.

Chevy has the C6 coming and Pontiac has something up it's sleeve

PS think about Holden's connections here in GMNA
