With Cadillac's move upscale, who does Lincoln compete with?

This thread is about 2 years to early.Lincoln is doing fine with the 2 vehicles it cares about. The LS is going to be overhauled here soon (remember Caddy came to the party 2years late with the CTS) the Town car will be getting new sheetmetal. The Navi will be getting either VCT or a V10 3v in the near future. The Navi isnt short of features either but on the same note it isnt short on price.
Quite honestly Caddy is as much a BMW fighter as Lincoln is.What happened in the last year that made Caddy "so great" the CTS!?!?!?!?!

How about the CTS, CTSv, XLR, SRX, and even the cars that are anticipated. Lincoln has the LS..............that's about it. Not only that, there is not all new models comming out in the near future.

Buicks line-up is pretty solid. When Rainer hits the streets alot of Roadmaster/Wagon drivers will be trading in for it since the V8 is what they've been waiting for from Buick. A regal replacement is coming soon and a new LeSarbre is also coming. What Buick needs is a V8 powered Park Avenue and they would be set to take Caddys former place.
Back in my mind I keep wishing to see a new GN from Buick, but I think Buicks performance days are over.

I could go on and on about why Olds was better than Buick, but my opinion doesn't matter

Yeah, the LS is the biggest "me too" car I have seen. I would have to agree that a distict look is very key to a successful car line. It seems that Lincoln is trying to do this judging from some of the concepts that have been comming out.
Another thing that was mentioned is the fact that to compete with a BMW or Mercedes, you have to have the performance models in there to compete with the AMG and M cars. Without this, you only have half the product line right. With the V-series, Cadillac is taking those head on.

. As far as styling, your right on that as well. Lincoln has no clear direction. All their cars have that different look which differs it from BMW, MB, and Cadillac which all have their own distinct look which is applied throughout their whole lineups.
I can see you guys arent up to date on Lincolns plans for the furture. Its ok not many do.Im not one for typing long posts. But Lincoln has around 2 to 3 years of waiting for their "new" products.Thats as long as Mercurys new products dont hamper the introduction of the new Lincoln line up.The biggest problem facing Lincolns plans is wether or not Ford will be keeping Wixom open or not.Ford has 2 new Lincolns scheduled for Wixom but they were dropped in order to see what was going to happen with contract talks.
