Is this Cadillac's Coupe?
Re: Is this Cadillac's Coupe?
Is there any possibity we're not looking at a Caddy? Someone with good photoshop software should enhance the poster as much as possible.
And it looks like the actual car is different from at least the blue coupe on the poster. Look at the C-pillar profiles and you'll see what I mean. You can clearly see upright C-pillars through the cover. More upright than the Camaro's by my judgement.

Well it's a Caddy studio.....
I am not sure why the biggest picture on the poster would be one of the Competitors either....normally they have a big picture of the car they are designing a smaller pictures of the competitors.

The blue car in the poster is a Jaguar XK.

The design studio often has competitors cars/pictures to show the direct competition.
For example, look at the wall in this pic:

Look at the grilles of the Jag and the mystery car and you'll see they aren't the same. Mystery car's grille is split into an upper and lower, the Jags is an oval underneath the plane of the headlights.
Mystery car's beltline swings up far more severely than the Jag's. The hood is far shorter and taller than the XK's as well.
The blue car also seems to have sculpture on the rear flanks similar to an early 70s Ford Torino/Gran Torino... something the XK doesn't.
Notice the front overhangs of the mystery car and the XK.
Finally, look at the shape of the top of the windshield, then look at the placement of the rearview mirrors. Both are notably different.

Mystery car is obviously animated, not a photograph. Would GM designers would draw up a stylized version of the Jaguar XK (or any other car) just to have inspiration so they could draw up their own car?
That's a GM design collage. The center is a GM designed vehicle, and it's surrounded by various vehicles that designers used for influence and/or various closeups of the vehicle's design elements.
Right below the blue car are 2 other views of the same car.
It's a safe bet that it isn't a Cadillac. It doesn't have a Pontiac grille. I can see it being a Buick, a Holden, or an Opel-Vauxhall.
Being that there isn't anything saying the car in the picture was a discarded idea or one that's being refined, I wouldn't rule out it being a idea for a Chevrolet.
Finally, the car under the cover looks a dead ringer for a Cadillac coupe, but it also has the same beltline as the blue car in the drawing does. You can very clearly see the bottom edge of the windows, and how it also severely sweeps upwards starting at the rearview mirrors.... again, just like the drawing of the blue car, but seemingly more angular than smoothly. The car under the cover has Chrysler 300-like exaggerated bulges around the wheel openings.

You guys are making a big deal out of a picture of an XK Jag!
I watched the show live as well as taped it, it IS an XK Jag. Don't blow this out of proportion folks.
The Caddies they partially uncovered on the show, though, look very striking from what they showed.
Looks like Caddy will continue its momentum.
