Cadillac's corvette?
Its a giant conspiracy!!!
Seriously, not sure what there is to say on this one. The XLR (not called Evoq anymore) was scheduled for a mid-year release. The C6 will be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show which is probably THE premiere show in the world in January, so the C6 will get a lot more press attention than it would have with a mid-year release.
Somebody help me out here.

Just to get people all tied in a knot with anticipation. Marketing, thats all. Frankly Im happy to see GM, trying to get people going crazy about seeing their projects. Even if I have to wait to see the vette totally.
XLR started out as a concept years ago, essentially strong-armed through development (and all but rammed right through Team Corvette's inevitable objections and efforts to derail it), & ended up approved for production as part of giving Cadillac everything it wanted.
Cadillac's future cars have been very open & visable as far as future products go because Cadillac (or just as correctly, General Motors) wanted to create buzz in the public & press over Cadillac's change of direction. So in Cadillac's case, the publicity is good.
In Corvette's case, the purpose is to surprise the public and Corvette fans.
The Corvette and Chevrolet is already established, and isn't changing directions, doesn't need to create any styling buzz, is a totally different bird (as far as marketing) than the Corvette.
The fact the XLR's out nearly a year before Corvette is also why you see so much of it (you can order an XLR now, Corvette is a 2005 and will be out later next year).

I really hope they'll concentrate on Chevrolet next, because i think Chev as a whole really needs more excitement and buzz.. I know there's new products coming in the near future... so I hope they planned everything out to create some hazzaa..
I know alot of other car enthusiasts that I talk to, that are generally anti-domestics, they basically view Corvette as an interesting anomaly in the Chevy line up.... A diamonds in a pile of rocks.. The new Malibu is supposidly leaps above the prev generation, but unless I'm missing it, it hasn't really created much "buzz".. I'm hoping the next gen of mid sized cars and coupes will liven things up, especially performance wise..
