Cadillac getting a version of the Solstice?
What do you think about Cadillac getting a version of the Solstice that looked like the Vauxhall Lightning Concept with a small V8?
It could sell in the low $40,000's (compared to the Solstice's low $20,000's) and be a great sibling to the (C6 based) $80,000 XLR.

I don't think they need it. It would just steal sales from the XLR, Caddy doesn't need two lux roadsters. It might be a good fit for Buick

I dont think Buick will be getting a version of the Solstice but I do think the Saturn version will look like this OPEL (CGI) concept and not the angular Vauxhall Lightning concept.

I agree ! But I think Caddy should get a convertible version of the next-gen CTS as well as the Vauxall version of the Solstice.
Look At BMW's line up:
Z3 2-seat roadster
3 series 4-seat convertible
6 series 4-seat convertible
Z8 2-seat roadster (getting replaced in a few years by something cheaper)

It has already been stated that the $30,000 CTS is the absolute lowest model Cadillac will build. They refuse to go downscale to grab more sales (the right thing to do IMO....a $20,000 1-series just cheapens BMW's image). I'm not sure how a Solstice like car fits there...so if you're going to charge Corvette money for a Cadillac Solstice then yes, you're treading on XLR toes.
I agree, Cadillac does not want to move downscale and I would agree. Keep the less expensive vehicles for the other brands. I think a vehicle like you described would be a good fit for Buick and would add some excitement. If i recall, I think they were planning on doing some thing like that .
A low $40,000 Caddy version of the Vauxhall would still be more expensive then the base CTS so the argument that GM wouldnt do it because they dont want cheapen the Caddy brand is mute.
A convertible C6 vette will be in the low $50,000's and I dont think a smaller caddy roadster in the low $40,000's (Boxer/TT/SLK territory) would harm XRL sales and in fact I think it would just bring more people into the Cadillac showrooms.

I do think one of the missing pieces in the Cadillac puzzle are a coupe and convertible to put it in line with BMW's 3-series... however, logic would dictate a CTS coupe and convertible...

According to Lincoln, Cadillac needs a $50,000 GMC Sierra.
