Cadillac CTS-V vs. BMW M5 SMG Teaser

http://http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=31&article_id=6996

Looks like Road & Track is getting these 2 cars together for a duel. Cadillac's driver will be John Heinricy and BMW will use Bill Auberlen. I believe the BMW is going to get a spanking.

The winner will be the BMW because it has a back seat.

...Wait a minute, this isn't Motor Trend.

The CTS-V will not only most likely be faster, but it also has a much nicer interior and a much less complicated design (less of a headache at higher mileage).

That article was not very fulfilling... nowhere near enough info and the video was just a bunch of interview filler.

Nice showing, but I see from some of the comments to bad the masses only really saw

Today we are comparing the BMW M5 and blah blah blah. The BMW is an awesome car and its competitor, blah blah blah blah blah. The BMW displayed superb manners as did blah blah blah blah. A new M5 is on the way, but the blah blah blah blah blah.

Forgive my ignorance but does John Heinricy have any racing experience? It read like the BMW driver was a ex-race car driver.

I believe Heinricy tests most of the cars on the Nurburgring and gives them feedback for suspension tuning, etc.

I believe BMW refuses to CPO any E60 M5. As nice as the V10 M5 is, this would make me terrified to own one even if I had the means. The manufacturer does not even have confidence in the durability of their own product!

Mr. Heinricy and Mr. Auberlen are both accomplished racers. It's just John has a 9-5 job at GM engineering and Bill gets to play with his toys. Both are company men and well suited to drive the cars they are.

It's been over 60 years since the Americans have so thoroughly trounced the Germans, but Inside Line has the numbers to prove it. The Edmunds news service had a chance to take the new Cadillac CTS-V (which we're driving in upstart New York as we speak) and its supercharged V8 for a spin around GM's Milford proving grounds and brought along its testing gear. The resulting bombardment ought to have the Germans thoroughly embarrassed and rebuilding for decades to come.

The CTS-V ran the quarter-mile in a scant 12.5 seconds, besting the 12.7 it takes for either the BMW M5 or the Mercedes E63 AMG. Getting back to a standstill was another hit to the Bimmer and the Benz, with the Caddy stopping from 60-0 mph in 109 feet – five feet less than it takes the M5 and six shorter than the AMG. And if you're thinking that brakes and power are easy to upgrade and that the Cadillac couldn't possibly best the Germans on the handling course, think again: the CTS-V ran the slalom at 71.1 mph, while the M5 and E63 ran it in 68.5 and 65 mph respectively. Deutschland über alles indeed.
Wow...
