Nice catch. You can see a helluva lot of influence from the Sixteen concept in the coupe.

 

i love the coupe... the other two not so much... they went the complete wrong direction for the excalade imo. Im not worried too much though, as they are obviously a ways from being produced or even shown

 

I wonder what's under the skin of the coupe. It looks so low slung with a low cowl - like a coupe should.

 

According to Autoblog, that is NOT the new Escalade. All of those vehicles in the background are design studies / recent projects. Doesn't mean none of them will see the light of day, but I wouldn't read too much into them just yet.

 

Yea I was gonna say that looks like a display at a autoshow or something. GM would never put out any real future product development pictures for the public to see.

 

The coupe looks like a Cadillac Solstice if you ask me. But, I think it looks good.

 

Yeah a bit, but I think it is much bigger, probably somewhere like a Mercedes SL or more likely a CL.

I found that Chevelle concept on Jalopnik . I really wish they showed this to the public at a car show. Any Idea what year it is from?

That Chevelle was the original competing design (with Camaro) for Chevrolet's Zeta coupe entry.

Camaro won out, and the rest is history. I personally think they should tweak this a bit, change the name and offer it as a coupe alternative to the Cruze.

I absolutely LOVE most of the Cadillac concepts, especially the Escalade. One can only hope the 2013 is that aggressive and refined.

Overall though, this just pisses me off... Had these Cadillacs, that Buick, that Chevelle and ESPECIALLY that Pontiac actually hit the streets (instead of the crap we actually got) GM would be in a much better position now. I have never seen a company with so much talent, perpetually shoot itself in the foot so often.

Case in point: allowing the press to look at these gorgeous design studies, all the while introducing that ugly assed Cadillac golf cart as the focal point. It's almost as if they try to **** us off on purpose, LOL.

 

The Pontiac looks like a very agressive G6.

 

The bigger escalade I am feel pretty certain is a Lambda based one. The droopy rear looks a lot like the Traverse.

I want to see the GTO sister the Chevelle buck had. I am actually surpised by the Chevelle one. It just seems so bland given the Chevelles past..like they half tried. The rear window and hips definatly show the Camaro bones under it. I does have some interesting cues like the rear tail lights (something like that would look cool on the Camaro)

The little coupe looks like a Eclipse. I like the overall shape, but the grill would have to go.

 

Yeah, the "Chevelle" is pretty bland. It wasn't really until this program (GMX284) was canceled that GM Design really started to go strong with the Camaro cues.

But this was the "Chevy Coupe" we were getting until then. I'm kind of surprised to see the Chevelle emblems on it though.
