...and today's San Francisco chronicle has a short writeup of the Infinity G35 sport sedan, with a mention of a "future" v8; Another front-engined, RWD, with a potential V8????

Every car being rear-wheel drive and coming with a V8 option sounds like real hell. Totally unprecedented, too.

Im going to have to disagree. If these rwd V8 cars sell, then the manufactures will gain confidence in rwd again and hopefully start to develop lower priced rwd platforms. Or perhaps they'll start developing more versitle rwd platforms and either of those two options look good to help the Fbody.

That car is awsome. Hopefully I'll be able to afford one of these new cars someday. I agree w/Chuck. This will all hopefully trickle down into some cheaper cars in the near future.

All of these rivals look better than the CTS. I can see this trickling down to a broader range of cars aswell. This really is a whole new performance era...where's GM? 1 car from how many different brands?

The 2003 Lincoln LS' V8 is now 280 horsepower (not bad for a V8 barely bigger in displacement than the base Camaro's 3800 V6 .

There is also a McLauren Lincoln LS on the way with about 400.

Those Lexi (cause you cant say Lexuses) look like a ricers dream. Their 4.3 doesnt have the aftermarket like the LS1..or the displacement. With the right stance(lowered) and wheels, the CTS is a sharp ride, I would love to have one...especially with an LS1!! GuionM, my father drives a Lincoln LS, and in the 1/8th mile my basically stock 96 ImpalaSS will easily outrun it...the LS feels like it has zero torque compared to the LT1.

Actually i like how the CTSv looks now, but final judgement when I seei t in real life.

The IS300 V8 does looks like a ricers dream.

Chuck, I hope your right, and the manufactures bring out more RWD cars for the masses, with V8's.. I'm kinda worried that gas now is as cheap as its going to get, and in a next few years its going to start rising again......

To say the CTS has presence when you see it in public is an under statement. It doesn't photograph well, but it looks very good in person. Bob Lutz doesn't like the style, or Cadillac's "Arts & Engineering" styling direction, but in the CTS's instance, I gotta disagree.

Impala64, is your dad's LS a 2003? That's where the upgradeed horsepower is. I drove an LS over Labor Day while my ripped clutch was being replaced. It's a very nice car, & it surprised me. I still think it should have replaced the Crown Vic/ Marquis though. It actually handles!

The Impala SS oddly was a bit quicker than the same package in a Caprice (axle ratio changed?). It would interesting to see how the new 2003 LS compares to say an LS1 Caprice.

Ok, the LS is a 2001 model, not an 03. It does handle well and is fun to drive. He is just leasing it (his first non GM vehicle ever) because his car had to have 4 doors, be rwd and have a V8. Sooo, what did GM have to offer? nothing. Kinda sad. Hopefully when the lease runs out Chevy will offer something exciting. Youre absolutely correct about the CTS..it does not photo well, but has quite an attitude in person. I love the front.
