C7: A small bit of 7th gen Vette info starts seeping out

http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...play.php?f=211

Looks like the C6 will have a 6 year production run and 2011 will be the model year for the C7, if this info is correct. I'll be keeping a watchful eye on this forum, though!

The style and execution of the past two gens was soo good, as well as the C2 I sometimes worry the next gen will look as good.

Really? I think the C5, while a great car, is kind of weird looking and actually ugly around the rear. C6 is an improvement to my eye, but still too... knife-edge and busy. I'd love to see some real styling on the C7.

The C7 is going to please many, many Corvette purists.

Care to elaborate? Are you hinting that it will be retro? God I hope not... I really really hope not or the C7 is WAY off my list.

well I liked the C5 even though it was a little wide. I liked the RX-7 which I think inspired the front end. I really like the C6 more for many reasons. It got thinner, it has design ques from the C2 which is my favorite of the old vettes. It tastefully got rid of the pop up light and still looks good. Its a true vette in looks but also at the same time rivals ferrari in looks and performance. I love that they threw in hints of the split window rear

I realize you dont agree, but this is to my eye.

While I don't know full program details, I'm just going to guess when I say it will be very modern, with some retro touches.

After seeing a Z06 up close and personal, I'm seriously thinking of forgetting about Camaro and slipping into a Corvette. I test drove a Z51 C6 at Autoshow In Motion, and damn was that an impressive ride. I went online today and spec'ed out a Z51 convertible, and by the time I was done adding all the options to it, I was nearing Z06 prices. Are they serious?

Anyway. Some interesting discussion over there. I can't believe they are considering a mid-engine design for the C7, but then I guess anything is possible.

Those two definitely do NOT go together.

I read there that there is basically not even a small chance that the SS Vette will be mid-engine. I don't know where you saw it might be? http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...ad.php?t=71392

And the new Cobolt is going to please many, many Cobolt purists. But that's just a meaningless statement that implies I have some inside info.

They haven't changed the basic Corvette formula in years, so heavy odds say they won't change the formula this time either.

Cobalt. For some reason that bugs me almost as much as when people spell Camero.
