C6 starting price announced

In reaction to the dark red spy shots, USA Today had this article:

http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...corvette_x.htm

Starting MSRP to be $44,000.

That price sounds just right.

I bet GM is PISSED that the photos of the C6 have been leaked everywhere.

I doubt it. This falls under the heading of purposely leaked.

They DID have the C6 completely uncovered on an auto trailer, in the middle of downtown San Francisco's financial district in the daytime, afterall.

BTW: Great price!

True, true................but why not wait for the grand unvailing at the NAIAS? That would have a much better shock value.

That sounds good, The same price as the '04 C5 but with a better interior, more options, 400HP+, and better chassis.

Good job GM

And on top!!

If they didn't want the car to be seen, they would have transported it in an enclosed hauler.

NAIAS is only a month and a half away and there are still no head-on shots of the completed car. I'm sure GM is very satisfied the car's appearance has stayed a secret up until this point.

Did you guys even read the article? it does not say C6 will start at $44K, it says it will be close to the price of the current car, which starts at $44K.

So expect a price increase, just not much of one.

Wow I’m surprised. I thought there would be a larger price jump. I guess sharing cost with the XLR paid off. This is great. Good going GM!

I assume "close" means less than $1000

This is great news since earlier it was speculated the the C6 would see a $5,000 price jump.

Well, I agree with what was said above, surely sharing some of the chassis and underpinnings development costs with XLR will help, because GM as a whole will have more unit sales to defray the development costs and therefore can stand perhaps to make a little less margin per vehicle.

I still wouldn't be surprised if that happened. Until they're in my showroom, NOTHING is official.
