C&D tests the Hummer H3! 0-60 in 10.2 seconds! 15MPG! $36,115! Oink! Oink!

Thats terrible. Wish they would've used a bigger motor. Its Hummer, they deserve to have a bigger motor than the I5.
But its not gonna matter. Like has already been pointed out, H2 owners obviously care less how fast their H2 is, its a Hummer. Hummer has a ton of street credibility. Now a cheaper, smaller H3 is available. It'll sell, despite being slow...

redzed points this out, but ignores my post in his own thread about Infiniti throwing a 4 banger in their new '08 crossover.
Not defending the H3, just think its funny what he chooses to focus on, as well as what he never responds to

I always knew this was a terrible choice for an engine. 0-60 times aside....can you inagine the slow passing times? Or how about 4 passengers on baord going up a hill with the a/c on?
More then obvious it cannot move itself around with an sort of ease.

Wow when did people get so stuck up (not talking about you guys)? A Hummer shouldn't not be looked at for gas mileage or speed even if most people use them as daily drivers somehow. Those are both bad numbers but Hummer wont and shouldnt have a problem selling them, come on guys these are frickin Hummers. If Hummer came out with a car it would still get crappy mileage and ever worse performance.

When was the last time you saw somebody actually saw sombody take their H2 off-roading?
Most of the yuppies who buy them would have a heart attack just by seeing how dirty their "rugged all-terrain vehicle" would get.

All the rich people bitched about the gas mileage of the V8 hummers it's no suprise that we not have an I5.
But you guys act like it's like trying to pass a semi with a chevette. It's not THAT slow. Yes it's 0-60 numbers aren't superb but you have to get out of your CAMARO mindset and the fact most people here are under 30 as well.
These things will have plenty of power to pass a vehicle in ample time so don't get your panies in a bunch. They will do fine despite NOT having a V8.

Same goes for H2's off-roading. Very few people are going a take a new vehicle off road PERIOD! Most off roaders are in older trucks or Jeeps that they don't care if they get dented. Once used H2s or H3s are under $12,000 used you will see a lot more going off roading.

I agree with you that Hummer can "get by" for awhile based on its street cred, but once the "look at me" buyers get theirs I can't see the H3 winning over buyers that are honestly searching for the overall best vehicle in the segment.

The grand cherokee would stomp all over the h3 off road.
