I assume some (maybe most) of you already knew this, but I guess now it is 100% official from Ford. The main reason I post is that I thought Ford promised it would never build another Bullitt edition car after the one they already made? Implying that to have bought the original insured yours would be collectable? Or was it only the green color they promised to never use again (are they only doing black or grey this time)?
I suppose with the retro looks though, it would be too hard to resist another Bullitt. I'm sure they will sell everyone and most dealers will ask a ridiculous extra "market adjustment".

Hell the newer bullit was a joke anyway, more money for not much more speed(if any) and the worlds ugliest color. The difference in performance between them and a regular GT was hardly worth noticing. When the Mach 1 came out a year or so later it basically killed any hope that the Bullit would be collectable.

2. Ford NEVER promised not to make another Bullitt. They kept production low only 5582 total, which makes them noteworthy to collectors or simply guys who want a unique Mustang.
3. Bullitt came in 3 colors last time: Dark Highland Green, Jet Black, and True Blue.
4. Unlike Pontiac dealers, Ford dealers did not scalp or take advantage of buyers with the Bullitt Mustang. Apparently, Ford dealers are considerably more disciplined than the "excitement division".

...a) The Mustang Builitt was a $3695 package for the Mustang GT that included an aluminum billet shifter, a performance suspension that dropped the height of the GT an inch, alumunum fuel filler door, then unique "thrust" wheels, rolled exhaust tips, a throttle body from the SVT Cobra, a different higher performance intake manifold (alumunum instead of the standard plastic), 13 inch Brembo brakes with red calipers.... also from the SVT Cobra, high flow mufflers, stainless steel pedals, brushed alumunum doorsill trimming, unique guages & unique seats, unique engine programming, and was far more than disproportionally quicker than the regular Mustang GT considering the "advertised" horsepower numbers.
...b) The 2002 Camaro SS was a $3625 package for the Camaro Z28, which included a fiberglass hood and a hood induction system that most every magazine that's tested it shows very little if any gain over the stock Z28, 275 tires on 17" rims, unique alloy rims, tuned exhaust, a higher performance suspension, a bigger rear spoiler, and most notable, a power steering cooler.
...in short, you got more with your +/-$3650 with the Bullitt package over the GT than you did by spending the same money with the SS package over the Z28... it's even more lopsided if you sprang another $2500 on top of that +/-$3650 to get the 35th anniversary package.
6. Collectability is based just 2 things (desirability and rarity). The Bullitt... which as mentioned less than 5600 were made... is rarer than the Mach 1 (9652 in 2003 & 7137 in 2004), and as a result, tends to depriciate at a far lower rate than the Mach 1.
7. Saying that the Mach1 killed any hope the Bullitt Mustang would be collectable is simply a naive and pretty groundless opinion, an opinion rendered even more inconsequential by adding "the worlds ugliest color" in describing something as simple as paint. Mach 1 and Bullitt are 2 different cars. Saying one takes away from the other shows not just a lack of understanding about cars let alone Mustangs.
If we could get the same group of affordable special edition cars from the next Camaro with as much effort as Ford put into both the Bullitt and Mach 1 without the overinflated MSRP as Ford has also done, we'd really have some fantastic competition.

I hope it doesn't have one of those stupid plastic pieces covering the rear side windows. Every time I see a GT on the road sporting that "mod" I want to go tear it off. It is way too common on modified current-gen Mustangs.
I think this car will look hot as a Bullitt, though. I always thought the previous gen looked good, and I really like the current Mustang's styling overall.

Now the new one.... well, I think it sucks. It looks like a V6 Mustang and the appearance isn't significantly different. On the last one, they changed lots of parts... even if the result was subtle.

Looks pretty sweet to me!

I gotta agree with you Werm, at first I thought "yeah raid the parts bin, FRPP performance paks would work pretty good", then they did that with the Shelby GT, and there are a few tuner cars out there using the same parts and now I think, naw too "been there done that" .
Although they could have still raided the parts bin for some neat gizmos
1 - GT500 Brakes
2 - GT500 Transmission
3 - 3.73 gears (which the Bullitt is supposed to have)
4 - FR500C stylr intake
5 - CNC'd 3v FRPP heads
5 - 5.4 shortblock (I might add that a 3v 5.4 isn't a bad choice compared to a 4.6 4v in weight considering the 4v heads add sixty pounds to any mod motor - Also any OZ FPV car people drool over is in fact using a cast iron 5.4 fitted with 4v heads)
6 - 18 x 9.5 w/45mm offset Bullitt wheels shod with
7 - 255/45R18's preferably in a good summer tire rather than an all season tire.
8 - Unique Bullitt suspension tuning.
The FRPP handling pak, is pretty good, I just installed it on my car, but the springs are 60% stiffer compared to the M5 GT's springs. It rides rough (although it does come niclely into its own about 80-110 mph - so far) so I dont think alot of Bullitt people would be happy with it, plus the 1.5" drop in suspension height requires some additonal supporting hardware to get the most out of it (you dont need it, but the panhard rod needs adjustment, the uppper control arm needs adjustment, the rear lower control arms need to be moved, and the front control arms need to be moved so that the vehicles roll center and anti-brake dive characteristics are restored)

I'm sorry, but this car puts me to sleep. Some may like the look of the base model with green paint, but it looks very dull to me. Couple that with minimal performance upgrades and it is a non-starter for me.
