Buickman (and everyone else). The Employee Discount verdict is in.......
Re: Buickman (and everyone else). The Employee Discount verdict is in.......
We may not agree on policies, but please don't question my sales abilities. Led the US 6 times. Previous best day 19 contracted myself one day 3-1-99. If you doubt I did 10 personally yesterday, call Suski Chevy Buick in Birch Run MI 1-800-856-4400 and ask for Andy Suski the dealer, Brad Goldman new car manager, or Jason Davis F&I manager. They'll confirm the facts. Make the call and then make the apology.

Just curious here........how many of those 10 were non gm employees that walked in not knowing what they wanted before they got there?
Re: Buickman (and everyone else). The Employee Discount verdict is in.......
Of the ten 7 were repeat customers, 1 referral, 1 phone up, 1 walk in. 2 of the 10 were not eligible for GMS previously. They would have bought anyway, just happened to be in the market at the right time.

Not all dealers are out to screw people, but a ton of them are. I can't name many dealerships besides my own that I would even THINK about working at. And as the smaller guys like us keep getting bought out, its going to get harder and harder to buy a car. I loathe even the THOUGHT of buying a car that I didn't sell to myself
I guess I want dealers to treat me the way I treat my own customers, and it never happens.

To answer another point made in this thread, ten deliveries in a day, though rare, is possible and can happen on the right day. Being in a metro dealership helps greatly, but even medium to smaller dealerships can have fantastic days like Jim said he had.

Has anyone decided how long its going to take Buickman before he admits he was at least partially wrong??? Its simple, GM lost something around $75 a car, increased market share by quite a bit, got people who would take a step into showrooms before to take a look at new GM vehicles, and moved old merchandise.
Buickman the thing you have to understand is that you are not smarter than probably the dozen or more people who were hired by GM specifically to know whether this is going to work. Your a car salesmen, the guys at GM are probably ivy-league buisness ****** who sit in a office all day with every single fact right in front of them trying to think of ways to make money, cut losses, and get people in these cars. They are succeeding, you are car salemen in probably the easiest place to sell GM cars, its all goin to be good, admit it.

There never was any question this program would move the metal. The downside is the long term. Diminished loan/lease portfolios, lessened residuals, the increased expectations of distress pricing, lessened dealer profit. Getting on the tiger is much easier than the dismount. I still contend the program was ill-conceived. Let's reserve judgement until the financials are in and the next few months sales rate becomes evident. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit it, but at this point the jury is still out.

Its hardly giving the cars away anyhow. Those cars are a model year old now anyways and problably worth $3k less (average) than the same 06 you drive off the lot. I turn my cars every 1 to 2 years and I am finally learning to buy early in the model year. If I waited 2 more months, my 04 CTS-V would be an 05 and worth $2k-$3k more.

Knock down msrp, and that'll be enough for people to see the true value without all the confusing rebates and incentives distorting the numbers. Simplify things.

That is not only deceitful, it's illegal in N.Y.
And BM, in regards to your "dealers will have to be innovative". I think you mean they will have to be more of a con artist than they already are.

June GM sales rise. Chinese have a saying "Blind cat catches dead mouse". Nothing to be proud of. Look and see what happens as a result of the giveaway before passing judgement. So many are so gleeful. It reminds me of the investor frenzy in late 1929 or the small fry shareholders who got burned in the more recent tech bubble. No vision, no common sense. That which goes up unnaturally will come down, sometimes in much worse measure.

Buickman, do you really beleive some of the stuff you post? You're a car salesman in a GM town claiming that GM Employee Discount for everyone is hurting you business. What percentage of your customers actually didn't have the discount before the promotion?
Also, I read that GM furnished $1,500 to dealers on each car to make up for the loss in profits. Is this wrong?

You see, for the average customer such as myself, "innovative" means "sneaky cheating bastards," and "finding methods of increasing profitibility" sounds a lot like "screwing the customer for every last cent." For us, manufacturer involvement means that our buying experience is legitimate and that we're not unknowingly bending over the salesman's desk as he smiles and shoves in extra charges.
And please, give me a break with the allusion to communism. I really doubt that you're in any danger of becoming an impoverished, opressed bolsheveik.
