Buick Revival
First, Lacrosse and Lucerne should have been Regal and Park Avenue to begin with. Second, while a lot of those sound like good ideas I don't think we'll see a Buick lineup that big and I'd say the chances of a Grand National returning are slim to none. If half of that could happen it would be a step in the right direction.
I know all the tangible have been discussed before about dropping the brand but....
...what does buick offer that a high end Chevy or lower end Caddy couldn't offer, except satify the 'can't accept times have changed' mentality?
If it wasn't for China, and even in spite of it, why keep it?

Buick had a luxury performance history; one that could be revived.
Pontiac has always seemed to be the testosterone charged nameplate (emasculated in the last decade) with Buick being more "refined" performance.
Chevy being the entry level, more volume version.
I think it is an excellent move if GM execs understand the history and are willing to use it to their advantage. Hell, there are a ton of folks in my demographic (30 somethings in generation "X") that would spend money on a Buick if it actually was a luxury performance line.
Buick deserves more than what they are now- a poor man's Caddy with blue hair and no *****.

This differs from Caddy how?
A proper SS line up from Chevy can cover the testosterone....Caddy has refinement. So again...where and why does Buick fit in today?

Leave the burled walnut finish, uber-gizmos and all-leather dash for Caddy, which is targeted as a step up to "true luxury" for folks that need to impress others. Buick should strive to impress the owner. Understated but refined.
The mid-80's Grand National is a great example. Compare the GN from then to the Monte Carlo SS, the Olds Cutlass, Pontiac's GP and Caddy's Eldorado. Each car was targeted at a specific market; no diffrent from the market today except they were too close to each other.
I don't know if I am communicating this properly, but I can really see Buick's place in the market if GM "goes for it".
I dunno, I just don't get it them. Take away the stuff you mention from Caddy and you're left with a Chevy.
The Monte, Cutlass, GP and Regal from the '80s were identical 'brand engineered' cars save minor trim changes. Only the GNX stands out because of the turbo motor.

Bear in mind, as far as GM is concerned, Pontiac/Buick/GMC are one entity.
So, why would you have a twin turbo performance Buick? Wouldn't that be Pontiac's role? Shouldn't Pontiac have the RWD performance cars, and Buick have the FWD Lexus wannabes? You don't want Pontiac and Buick to have SUV's, that's strictly GMC territory...
Also, GMInsideNews is smoking crack if they think Holden can produce 30-50k G8's AND import the Holden Caprice as a Park Avenue next year...
Buick and Pontiac will eventually end up with 3-4 models each. No more...

Very little fact in that GMI piece, but lots of wild speculation - which can be fun. As long as you don't make it out to be factual.
