Lucky you. You guys in the states have it made. We can't find ANY up here in Canada, they've all been sold for over 2 months now.

Wow, I didn't know that. I wonder why they put such huge incentives on them over the winter, just to sell out early and leave demand unfulfilled . I guess it's a good thing I got mine back in the fall while they were still plentiful.

Yeah, In my opinion, they could have had a smaller incentive and the car would have sold just the same.

Basically at the start of the year, GM Canada was told:"Here are your G8s for the year and that's all you're getting". The cars didn't move until the incentives came and in a matter of weeks, ALL the V8 models were gone.

You can still find the odd V6 model around but dealers are holding on to them cause they know it's now in high demand.

It's awesome car. I almost bought one but we couldn't get our full GM discount because it wasn't NA built.

Enjoy your car. There aren't many around.

Congrats the G8 is on a very short list of potential "new" cars all be looking into later this year.

They're selling out in California -- at least the V8 models are, so don't wait too long, unless you've got another car at the head of the list.

Hopefully GM takes the hint with the car selling out everywhere ...

Beautiful sedans. I was drooling over a white one at the local dealership a month back. GM has to find a way to keep them around.

There were some very good deals in my area over the past winter. I was seeing loaded GT's being advertised at $24.5k. I don't know what they're going for now.

Congrats Teal98, R377, CLEAN and anyone else who picked up a G8 recently. It takes a lot to seperate me from my money. And I'm not a fan of 4-doors or automatic transmissions. I am, however, a fan of Pontiac and a kick-*** car called the G8. So I brought one home last Monday. And since this thread sucks without pics, here are a few of mine.

I think you nailed pretty much every complaint about the car (that I've read) although the battery discharge problem seems common down here but not every owner falls victim to that problem.

The most annoying thing for me would be the transmission's low speed lurch, as you describe, as you have to brake more heavily than you should to be ready to stop the vehicle. GM's PCM tuning is really subpar these days and is really not in the same league lately as ZF for transmissions and even Toyota for engine tuning. Perhaps a result of cutbacks to Powertrain development (don't know for sure, just guessing! ).

The instrumentation, I abhor. It makes you wonder how Holden could bring out something not so legible for daylight driving considering the VY/VZ models were much simpler and easier to read.

Cup holders I don't know much about but considering I've found it hard to fit some small diameter water bottles into holders on cars like the GTO... the larger holders are a welcome addition. Probably what's needed is variable adjustment on the cup holder device. It can be annoying to find spare stowage space sometimes.

Btw, good review!

There is a PCM update for the transmission programming, however any 2009 should already have that. I checked and mine was updated before I bought it, but having said that, there's still the odd time when I'm coasting to a stop at maybe 30mph and then decide to get on it, and the car just falls flat on its face for a moment.

Yes. One of may updates.... supposedly!

As I said, GM can't seem to get their PCM tuning act together these days. They need to see how the Germans have developed their systems (ZF) and copy the shift points and shift quality. Moot point for existing owners, I know.

Unless they're into tuning...

I got the silver, and it's got a ton of flake in it. It sparkles like fresh powder at sunrise when the sun's on it, probably the nicest shade of silver I've ever seen on a car.

I was thinking about this just today, as the vette was once again collecting dust in the garage. It seems the only time the reflection is a real problem is mid day, when the sun is directly overhead and coming down through windshield and hitting that silver accent piece just below the IP. Didn't notice it this morning or this evening, just at mid day. The other guy who mentioned it lives just north of here, so I wonder if it's a southern latitude kind of problem w/ the high sun angle? I know that sounds like a stretch, but seriously...

The font is fine, the visibility issue is that the contrast is kind of lacking, as the gauge face and white characters are sunken into in the bezels a good bit, and really don't pick up much ambient light. Turning the parking lights on is a perfect fix for that, plus I like the amber lights better than running w/ the HID's on all day....thank you GM.
