Well I can say that alot of it is confirmed by various people familiar to the situation.
Speculation is all there is right now, as to say something factually i would have to be 100% sure it will happen. If GM isn;t 100% sure that they are gonna do something, how can I be 100% sure it will happen. I will say in the last much I have had at least 5 people tell me pretty much the same general story involving the Camaro. Where there is smoke there is a fire, and to me that means that GM is working on a Camaro. All I can do is report what I know at this point.
Assuming the Camaro is a 2007 model, you must realize two things.
1. It will not be anounced as a Camaro untill the last possible minute, maybe even 2006
2. Facts concerning content and engines are pretty much not going to comeout untill the above mentioned timeline. How much did we know about the C6 two years ago? Hell how much do we even know now. With final approval coming up anything can happen.
Also you have to remember those on this board are further above the curve in terms of GM future profuct than any other venue I have seen. So while the sture may be a yawner here, to your average person on the street it is big.
Since no one close enough to have info on this program is going to make on the record statement concerning development I have to put kind of put it in to perspective.
In closing I am very confident of what I put in that article, however with three years to intro I cannot come out and say it is set in stone fact and have to present it as what it is.....an article containing the best info I could pull togethor.

ok. but why does it take Holden 18 months to make a Monaro from their V cars and its taking GM NA more than 3 years or longer to make a Camaro out of Holden's already finished VE cars?
and GM NA has more resources too!

hmm Branden.. I thought the name issue was a rumor.. besides even if GM was on a gag order from calling their coupe as a "Camaro" couldn't they produce other cars that have no such order...such as a Monte Carlo/Impala SS (leaving current FWD offering as the Impala) or some other name... how about a variant for another brand ala Pontiac/Buick???

On a side note. The article in autoweek:

says that the Insignia is not related to the Pontiac GTO.. I'm not sure what that means becuase I thought the Insignia was underpinned by the new GTO platform so they would be directly related

Maybe they're refering to the current 2004 GTO...
For example, Holden - GM's Australian unit - is exporting the 2004 Pontiac GTO to the United States for sale around Dec. 1. Holden also developed the architecture for the Insignia, which features a version of the Chevrolet Corvette's 5.7-liter V-8. But the Insignia is not related to the Pontiac GTO.
