I'm gonna throw in Cadillac's new Arts & Science cars too (CTS, XLR, SRX) on the basis that it actually got me excited about Cadillac , and the fact that it is one of the few fresh, creative new design directions in several years!
I'm not going to start naming off my list of dream cars from yesteryear; rather, I'll just name one that comes to mind~ 1993(technically '92) - 2002 Viper. I believe the thread read Best Styled American Car implying a single winner. The Viper wins in my book based soley on the sex factor. For an American car to win for best styling, it must have an extremely high sex appeal. Simply, a man should want to have sex with a car like that. Hmm..yes, I would have sex with a Viper...

1996 & 1997 Pontiac WS6 Trans Am Black, Silver or Red
I may be biased though because I own one!!
Runner Ups:
1996 & 1997 Camaro SS
1996 Viper GTS
All of Pontiacs GXP Variations!! Awesome Cars!!
Even though its not American, I think the 2003 Saab 9-3 Vector sports sedan with the 17" split 5 spoke wheels and 225 hp Turbo engine is the smoothest looking car I have seen in a long time. And that new styling has alot to do with GM's influence since they bought Saab some 5+ years ago.

1st: Early Viper
2nd: Midyear Vettes
3rd: Shark Vettes
Most of the new concepts have taken a step back, in my opinion, to styling that is needlessly overcomplicated or discordant. Compare the 1992 Viper with the 2003 Viper.
