A couple notes...

G8 1,521 down 20.6%....wonder how much inventory is left?
Aveo 12,733 up 159%
“Our California dealers support the program and with more than one million visitors and 1.4 million completed searches so far, dealers feel the eBay project is generating significant awareness and consideration of Chevy, Buick, GMC and Pontiac products. So, we’re extending the eBay program through the end of the month. Once the California program winds up, we’ll take a look at the results and determine if we should roll it out nationally later this year,” he added.

Anyone else find it ironic that C4C did nothing to help the two companies the U.S Gov't bankrolled post better sales over last year while almost everyone else seemed to benefit?

I sure am glad Hyundai got big help!

We think GM's sales performance is bad now, just wait till its only Chevorlet, GMC, Buick, and Caddy to sponge numbers from. GM's numbers overall will be down for a good while.

Just like to say that I appreciate your newsworthy posts. A BIG THANKS to you!

Looks like Ford are hammering GM on compact and medium car sales. Focus had a great month selling over 25K units. How often does GM get anywhere near that figure with any of their product? Not very often I see.

about ~18% of C4C sales were for new GM vehicles, 10% for Chrysler. I don't see how that didn't help

Edmunds is reporting that the domestics did better than the DOT is showing.

Top Clunker Sales According to DOT

1. Toyota Corolla
2. Honda Civic
3. Toyota Camry
4. Ford Focus FWD
5. Hyundai Elantra
6. Nissan Versa
7. Toyota Prius
8. Honda Accord
9. Honda Fit
10. Ford Escape FWD

Top Clunker Sales According to Edmunds

1. Ford Focus
2. Ford Escape
3. Honda Civic
4. Ford F-150
5. Toyota Corolla
6. Toyota Camry
7. Honda CR-V
8. Chevrolet Silverado
9. Hyundai Elantra
10. Honda Accord

So if you go by Edmunds numbers, ford doesn't look too bad at all and at least Chevy has one model on the list.

John McElroy has an article on the discrepancies here: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/01/a...-john-mcelroy/

Eric77TA I would like to think American cars benefited more...but look st this chart about halfway down the page...Focus increased about 4k units...& Escape sold about the exact same amounts in July & August....most every "Import" increased by 10,000+

Top 15 selling cars July & August

Camry increased nearly 20k
Civic increased 13k
Accord 10k
CR-V 11k
Elantra atleast 6k..wasn't even on the list in July
