Audi R8

Audi unveils new Audi R8 mid-engine sports car

Paris, France - Audi unveiled its new R8 mid-engine sports car last night prior to putting it on display at the Paris auto show. Similar to the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car unveiled three years ago, the production R8 features a mid-mounted 420-hp V8 FSI engine, a manual 6-speed gearbox or optional Audi R-tronic sequential-shift gearbox with paddle shifters, quattro all-wheel drive, and Audi's space-frame aluminium body.

Audi says the R8 accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 301 km/h. Features include an automatically extending rear spoiler, LED headlights, transparent engine cover, and driver-oriented cockpit.

The Audi R8 is scheduled to go on sale in Canada in late summer of 2007. Pricing was not announced.

The Audi R-Zero Electric Wet Dream
October 18, 2006 10:00 AM - Jacob Gordon, Nashville, TN

There’s not a lot to say about the Audi R-Zero. Tell you the truth, I’m not even sure it’s much more than a fantasy. But everyone needs some EV eyecandy now and again, and since you can’t look at naughty pictures at the office, go nuts. The R-Zero is an electric muscle car that came from the minds of three students at France’s International School of Design. Four in-wheel motors would give this car a top speed of 286 mph, 1091 horsepower, and 0-62 in 3 seconds. The real question is: when’s the head-to-head between the Wrightspeed, the Tesla, and the R-Zero? :: Audi R-Zero flash site, Mobile Magazine via Hugg (Linton)

All indications are that this is going to be an awesome car although I suspect the price will reflect that.

Its Audi's new way of using dark patches to hide some things. Imagine the front and side patches of black, in silver. The side proportioning looks the black patch is hiding something.

If NFS Carbon is any indicator of the R8's performance, then it will be unbeatable!!!

it's a re-skinned Lamborghini Gallardo.

the black blob is there for decoration. You can get it in any color you want. You have to pay extra for body color though, and it's also available in carbon fiber.

To me it looks very similar to the Mitsubishi Eclipse from the side/rear....and that's not a compliment! It's like a Giant TT, which I also dislike visually.

Oh well, after my last Audi, an S4, and it's sheer lack of reliability, they can keep it....

Lagardo? What's that? I think you're going for Gallardo. It does kinda look like a mix between the TT and the new eclipse though.
