They are building a station wagon now (and a sedan) and already have an SUV, and they are going to add a hybrid SUV

Thats not a sports car? Its got an arguablly better chassis layout than the 911's (mid engine, not slug out far out in the rear).. and even the Boxter S was just hair behind the 911 Carrera's times, and this Cayman S is tested faster than a comparable 911 Carrera, a good amount faster than a Boxter S at the ring.
I'm betting you on a roadcouse, it'll be right next to a C6 Vette, if not ahead of it.. The Boxter S was only a tick away from a C6 vette in the Road and Track comparo..
And they're making an even lighter weight hardcore ver of it.
Shrug, if its not a sports car.. either way,it'll probably be nipping a the heels of Vette on a roadcourse, even with a 100 hp deficit.

People complained about this when Porsche was going to build an SUV....now its their hottest seller, never the less at over $70,000 and damn near $100,000. Now they want to build a wagon? I bet it will sell even better...hell, who would not want a luxury magnum?

It's pretty simple, the more Cayennes or station wagons they sell, the better their sports cars. While porsche is "owned" by VW, they have their own money situation. Plus, the US is one of Porsche's biggest markets, and with the way the euro is on the dollar, they have to sell more vehicles to remain profitable. If selling SUVs and Wagons makes for a better Boxster and 911, so be it.

Say it isn't so!...is there nothing sacred any more...
A sedan would be bad enough, but a wagon...the exec's must've got that idea after a trip to Thailand...to many mushrooms.

Maybe HUMMER, GMC, and Jeep should start making sports cars and try to get some of Porsches market
