Anyone notice how bad the Mustang's color selection is?
Anyone notice how bad the Mustang's color selection is?
I was looking at Fords website for the new Mustang the other night..and I noticed, their colors really leave something to be desired.
They have your standard Silver, Red, Black, and White..but the other colors are terrible.
http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/
Yellow Blaze- More of a gold..looks like a school bus
Grabber Blue- Very loud with out the tint coat pop that GM's Jet Steam Blue or the Camaro's Aqua blue. Just aflat, very bright blue.
Kona Blue- Really Purple...no thanks
Lava Red- Only color I have not seen in person. Looks brown on their website.
No greens, oranges, or normal yellow. Also no normal Blue..which I take to be a popular color. You should not have to chose between super bright graber blue and purple Kona blue.
I guess what I am getting at is Challenger and Camaro are having success with bright, expressive colors...and the Mustang's color palet is very drab by comparison. I am certain some people like understated....just trying to point out a difference.

The Grabber Blue is amazing. I wish GM would offer something similar on the Camaro. Also, the colors on the website don't really look anything like the colors in real life. The same goes for pretty much any car.
Re: Anyone notice how bad the Mustang's color selection is?
Imperial blue is a navy blue metallic. Kona blue is purple...
Re: Anyone notice how bad the Mustang's color selection is?
I've noticed this sine the early 90's and have always said this to people. They put awful awful colors on these cars but they still sell a ton. That blue is as bad as the rest.
I remember an old Camaro commercial that showed a brand new 94 mustang it was comparing the camaro to, saying all the stuff it didn't have, etc. The mustang had this horrible pale flat yellow that made the already ugly car look extremely dated (I don't think the mustangs looked good until the refresh in the late 90s).

I like Kona, the color changes a bit depending on how the light is.
Sounds like a matter of perspective

Personally, I like the Mustang's color selection better than Camaro -- but it's just because I love bright blue colors like Grabber Blue, and Camaro doesn't offer a comparable color.

Speaking from experience, it is very difficult to get images just right when it comes to car colors, since they obviously don't actually shoot one car in each color.
This is especially true with today's complex colors. It is next to impossible to get Synergy Green just right on the screen.

Still, I've seen all these colors in person, and I really wish Camaro offered a bright blue with no hint of green in it. My personal choice would be Electron Blue from the C5.
Re: Anyone notice how bad the Mustang's color selection is?
I don't mind the Mustang colors so much, whereas I think the Challenger is lacking in the color wheel dept. But if they are selling....who am I to judge?
Re: Anyone notice how bad the Mustang's color selection is?
I despise the grabber blue... It looks like they rattle canned the car with ford blue engine enamel.
also, i like camaro's color choices more. They have a better looking yellow, synergy green which really pops, cyber gray which mustang doesnt have an answer for, and inferno orange which i really like. I do wish we had a lighter blue like jetstream blue on the vette.

there was talk that Hydro Blue Metallic was supposed to be available, which would be nice...

This sure is one of the bluest purples I've ever seen in my life... It's actually similar to the Indigo Blue Metallic on my Z71 (background) just a couple shades darker.
I've learned you can't go by the internet colors any mfg uses on their websites, they usually suck.
