Anyone ever noticed that Ford cut this corner....

When Ford redesigned the Taurus wagon in 2000 they forgot to do the BACK! I noticed this today...it looks funny to see a 2000+ Taurus running around with the vack end of the previous 96 car. if you don't know what I mean, here is a picture of an 03 Taurus wagon from Ford's website..

I know it's nitpickey, but it looks bad when you can't afford to put new tailights on all the versions of a car that sells 300,000+units a year and was at a point Ford's flagship.

Ya, I always thought that was kind of funny.

If I remember right, the Sable wagon had the exact same rear as the Taurus to boot...

I guess they figured they didnt sell enough of them to justify the change, or they figured noone would notice...

Ford cuts lots of corners...this one is just visable.
I've noticed that too, but its not the same panel or rear valence as the older Tauraus. Meaning a back light panel from a 98 Tauraus sedan wouldn't fit a wagon. It just has the same multi-colored brake light, reverse light, turn signal light, look.

Almost like the way a 2002 Camaro has the same tail end as a 1993.

No, nevermind... GM doesn't make mistakes.

That's not really the same thing. If they redesigned the back end in 98' for most the models but stuck the old one on the SS, then that would be the same type of thing.

GM has done that with their trucks for a long time. It's no big deal to me... I love their truck designs.

Actually the tail lights are different....

Anyway I am not talking about GM here...stop trolling in my threads..
I mean it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't make such a big deal about how they de-ovalized the Taurus with the new design. That rear just clashes horribly with the new design. Also it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't change all the sedan...but the fact that chenged the rear of the sedan so much makes it look bad that the wagon is exactly the same.

Brandon,
If you were really half as honestly observant as you make yourself out to be (just noticing that nissan makes ugly cars 6x and just noticing this and just noticing that- but nothing about GM) you would find something to REALLY gripe about.

GM has about as much on ford in styleing as ford does on GM powertrain wise- nothing.

Whey dont you bitch about a 231hp V8 in a fullsize f-150?

Christ- if youre going to whine like a little school girl,
at least make it worth someones time

Christ- the vette tail lights have barely changed since 84. Round then squared off and round again...

Silverado lights BARELY change. 03 was their biggest change in like 20 years.

Let me guess, your not bias right?

Ummm...no I made a post about Ford and you started a falme war for no reason...nowhere was GM mentioned in the post till you started flaming. Either way when has GM redesigned thier flagship car line and left one version of that carline sedan/wagon ect with half the body panels of the old car. And I am talking in the last 10 years too..... Come on...give me facts, model years, pictures.

ugh, and what a mistake they made! change it back! I duno what they did. it looked okay on the Avalanche.. but they did somethign to it and it doesn't look quite right at certain angles ont he Silverado's..

I' liked the slightly rounded off rectangle look better of '02 and before..

Anyone see that GM concept truck in one fo the mags? The one with the swoopy lines and the 500 hp engine?
