Any word on final Z06 production horsepower rating?

We know there are pre-production cars runnign around with no HP figure on the side emblems...

I just talked to my CFO who has a Silver Z06 on order, and he said he had talked to someone at Corvette Powertrain a few weeks ago, and he was told that production Z06's were to start on the line Monday, Aug 29th...

That's less that 2 weeks away....

I thought they were done under the new SAE way of measuring power? (at 505)

Ya, it went from 500 to 505, but that thread from last week suggested that the 505 was up in the air, and RP even said that current pre-production cars are runing badges without a hp designation, and I linked to a picture of a red one with exactly that.

RP also said that the production car would have the hp figure on it.

I plan on heading around the Tech Center (and surrounding businesses) later today and will certainly see a few (10?) z06's while on my journey. I'll be sure to see if I can find a vehicle with a figure.

Thanks!

I just told my CFO about the situation, and needless to say, he's anxious to find out what his car will officially have.

Haha, yeah, tell him it's an unwritten rule that anyone who drives a Z06 is required to know how much horsepower it has.

When he takes you out for a ride, tell him he's shifting it wrong and he'll burn up his clutch. Then offer to show him the "correct" way.

funny thing is.. by the time you are already out of 1st gear... its 60 mph, and you are already over most roads speed limit! So redlining to 1st, quick shifting and flooring it in 2nd for just a bit, you'll already be doing 70 80 mph.... ouch! and you have barely gotten into 2nd gear.. lol!

I have been lucky enough to drive one and all I can say is that its scary. Scary that a $70k car can do what this thing can do. In first gear, when you hit 4000 rpm at WOT, the exhaust baffles kick over to direct flow and it feels like there is a 1a sub gear, you can literally feel a new accleration level as your head kicks back more....all without having shifted. Unbelievable.

I see people do this crap all the time. If they can do 40 in first - then damnit, everyone's gonna hear 'em doing 5000 rpm!

Re: Any word on final Z06 production horsepower rating?

My brother has been seeing 2-3 z06's a day, lucky bastard works down the street from the tech center. I've given him the job to look at the tag on each one. I'm giving him my camera tonight so he can take pictures of what he finds. He'll probably end up getting a ride in one or driving one. He is a corvette nut and weaseled his way into a ride in a c6 long before he should have.
