Any chance of a v8 in the colorado?

^ Just curious...

Why: a year or so ago when I was 16 I was offered inheritance toward a new car. I would be driving an 01-02 ZR2 s-10 right now if it had been offered with a v-8. I looked and looked at them... but I couldnt make myself happy without a v-8. (my parents wouldnt let me have a camaro at the time) So I refused to spend that much money on something I didnt want. Actually Im glad the option wasnt offered cause then I wouldnt have my camaro but thats a different story... Also my friend almost bought a dakota for the same reason, but his rents work for GM and wouldnt allow it.

Why let the dakota have the advantage here? Oh... I almost forgot the dakota is also availible in an R/T model. Perfect for the person who likes performance and needs a truck. (me . . . but ive already spent my money :P) SSR is too expensive, not all that fast, and not availible in extended cab/hardtop (necessary for me). Basically if an R/T equivalent wouldve been availible, Id have considered that too. ...how about an LS2/5.3 powered Colorado SS?

Nope, not a chance. I was at the NA media introduction for the Colorado/Canyon/Malibu and i got to drive with an Engineer for over an hour and grill him. No V8. No room, only room for the I5...

So the colorado is bigger than the S-10 but it has less room in the engine bay than the s-10? Thats disppointing :blah:

edit: howd they manage getting 5.3 in the envoy then?

edit again: oh wait, that had the I-6

A 4.8L V8 would be nice to have in the Colorado

a 4.8L won't fit, but the taller and longer I5 will

Envoy/Trailblazer platform is not the same as the Colorado. Thats why the i6 and V8 fit in them.

So, while theres no V8 for you----think Turbo I5 as a good possibilty.

Would a 60° V6 engine fit? A 270HP 3v 3.9L V6 would do nicely

I was thinking the same thing....

It'll never happen though. Why? Drop the 4.8L V8 in the Colorado and you end up with a midsize truck with a better power/weight ratio than the Silverado SS.

maybe your not thinking of the width.....? An inline is far narrower then a V8. (plus the V8 transmission is larger) But then again a 90 degree OHV V8 is pretty compact.

I think the point is the Colorado is wider and bigger than the S-10 it replaces and folks have been swapping V8's in those for years.
