Any chance GM will reconsider the GTO for Canada ..

Any chance GM will reconsider the GTO for Canada ..
With the rumours of the current GTO hanging around a little longer than originally expected is their any chance of GM taking another look at the bumpers to get it certified for Canada?
Reviews like this one by Dr. Bud can't help but generate even more (pent up) demand for it.

I can't see it happening.
It's not just a matter of strapping on bigger bumpers; the structure that supports them also must be engineered to help pass the bumper standards. And even though the current GTO might be hanging around a bit longer, it'd still take at least a year to get the changes into production which leaves only a couple of selling years. Given the small volumes in Canada, it'd be a tough business case.

Canadians prefer smaller, less powerful cars than Americans. That's why Pontiac is selling a rebadged Aveo and Cobalt - and not the GTO.

My guess is that since the Monaro (aka GTO) was developed by the Aussies for domestic use, then adopted by GM NA, the Monaro was probably not developed with the temperature extremes of Canada in mind.

And that doesn't mean they wouldn't sell here. We, on average buy more small cars (must be Quebec!) but there are lots of people here in Canada who love horsepower! It just costs more here.....

We see anywhere from -10 the odd winter day (not often) to +40 the odd summer day (also not often). Celcius of coarse.
Not anymore extreme than some States really.....

Other than a few areas like Southern Ontario (where they grow grapes!) - or coastal areas of British Columbia - most of Canada is subject to some very extreme temperatures.
