Someone (don't remember who) pointed out that coupes have to be more stylish, and visually changed more often in order to be successful.

Though the reference at the time was to the Camaro and the Mustang, I think it carry's over to all coupes. Unless you are selling a highly demanded name (ie: BMW), coupes are more demanding stylistically than any other vehicles, including sports cars.

Acura simply felt that their name was far greater than it really is, and they tried to get away with understated styling, without comming to grips with the fact that conservative buyers buy sedans. Expressive people buy coupes. That's why Mustang is dominating the field. That's why the tire melting, 160 mph new GTO will do well. And that's why any coupe that comes along in the future can't be boring, and be expected to sell.

Seems Honda-Acura didn't believe that till now.

Very true statements...

Coupes DO need to be exciting to sell. People, if they are going to give up their extra doors, want a reason to do so. You can't just cut 2 doors off a car these days and expect it to sell. There needs to be INCENTIVE for the person to go for it...
