I thought that was hilarious.
I think the author wrote that tounge-in-cheek.

I'm wondering how the three kids with 4 women works. That could get pretty confusing.

I thought it was pretty funny myself.

It's not an attack article by a long shot. Even on this very site, you can probably go to "Search" and key in "Camaro" and "Mullet" or "Camaro" and "Trailer Park" or "Camaro" and "Meth" and you'll likely come up with alot more than a handful of posts.... even from people who own 3rd gen Camaros.

The old Chargers are stuck with the "Dukes of Hazard" rep.

The Trans Am is stuck with "Smokey and the Bandit".

Third gen Camaros are stuck with "Trailer Parks", "Mullets", "Meth Metalheads" and soforth.

BUT...

Mint Chargers still collect serious bank at Barrett Jackson auctions.

If you can't find an original condition Black & Gold late 70s Trans Ams for less than $30K, you can get a remanufactured one for about $50 grand.

And 3rd gen IROC Camaros (especially in that metallic blue) are still head turners and show stoppers.

Not bad for stereotyped cars.

That's funny...

I'm a HUGE death metal fan and neither of my Camaros would relate to anything described in that article...

I hate to admit it but I saw the new Fast and Furious movie and noticed the guy in the movie driving the Camaro had a mullet and a foot fetish. He also had a little Kid Rock influence. And to anyone who wants to know if the movie was any good...... it was as good as any of the other Fast and Furious movies........... so no.

Watching any F&F movie is the visual equivalent of dragging your junk across a 10 grit sanding drum lubed with lemon juice and habanero paste.

I dont mind the over the top stunts (I really liked Transporter I), its the silly damn "street racer" attitude and "super tuner" jargon. I know this kid that swears running a supercharger, unlike a turbo will blow the intake manifold - then again he also tried to set the idle on a 94 taurus by adjusting the throttle ::

Car and Driver is a magazine on a mission, they're the ones that provided that Yahoo article. They seem intent on insulting late model Camaro owners every chance they get for some reason. I have written two e-mails to them over that article and the one in my link below. I'm very disappointed in them as a whole, and will never buy or suggest that someone else buys their nonsense again. Stereotyping and political incorrectness seems to be the style over there.

The proof is in the pudding:

I understand what you're saying Guion, but really, it's very tired at this point. It's like every other negative stereotype out there that the actual people (enthusiasts in this case) don't want to be associated with. People don't want to hear that kind of BS anymore, it's more than 25 years later and what some people were listening to and wearing then has changed, alot. As a matter of fact, on TGO some of those words are even banned.....you're not hearing it from the owners, usually critics.

And 3rd gen IROC Camaros (especially in that bright red) are still head turners and show stoppers.

Not bad for stereotyped cars.
Fixed!

I have alot of those "Car&driver" types living around me. Porche, Marcedies, Mazda Mida, Acura what-ever, hondo-2k, BMW "M" series what-ever (sorry I got the names wrong). They are all very giddy over a good wash and wax job, but, they are only capable of turning a key. I do like to intimidate them with my blown 97ss road suspension set-up MM6 Camaro. I'm alone out here. No friends. Looks like I will die that way. They can't talk tech, so, I don't talk to them. I drive a Camaro modded my way. Glad to be hated for driving American. PS... Car&driver mag sucks, and, I have never lost to a Porche who has messed with me. B.

You have no friends because no one you know has the same kind of car as you?

I don't care what "stigma" is attached to any of the old cars. As long as they are show quality, and done up nicely any of them will gain respect from me.

Yes ragged out thirdgens do get the "mullet" stigma, but when I had my old 1992 Camaro I'd get looks and thumbs up up until I sold it (2005). But it was flawless, and my fav dark green-grey metallic. I still miss that car. Would have been perfect for a LSx Swap... damn house downpayments...

Dude.

I drive a high powered Camaro.

I live in Prius, treehugging San Francisco.

I get stereotyped no matter who I talk to.
