So lets see we have Walmart, Bill Gates, and another super rich tech CEO all investing in ethanol. If we get enough people behind it I can see a major change in the US oil dependence in the near future. Lets hope the politicians and hippies don't get in the way.

Go slave-mart! - Eh E85, I guess its okay, just need to burn what 7 or 8% more of it and bump the compression ratio to 11 or 12:1 to get about the same power as gasoline.

It has the potential for more power, largely due to it's octane rating. However, on a car not built specifically around ethanol it is likely not going to net you more power. Lower mpg is going to come of ethanol, although building a very high compression ethanol engine will help negate the mpg loses some.
