Amazingly, this slipped under the radar: The New Ford Falcon

While we were wrapped up with the new G8 sedan hitting the streets, the G8 truck coming next year, the Cadillac CTS coupe, the FG Falcon (the VE Commodore's competitor and the G8's by association) was unveiled.

The Falcon FG XR8 (think of a G8 GT)

Falcon Ute

I think Holden wins the styling till the all new Falcon due in about 2-3 years.

Is it going to come to the US? It looks better than anything Ford has over here, but the G8 is much better looking IMO. The G8 commercials are doing really well I think. A few guys I know always talk about how they want to sell their cars/trucks to buy a newer car. Well they look at A4s, 3 series and such. They saw the G8 and thought it was a BMW at first and when they found out it was a Pontiac they got excited about it. Now these aren't car guys at all. So I think Ford would help themselves out with the Falcon in this market. The G8 is going to do well, so bring over some competition.

The bigger looking G-series would make a excellent New Crown Vic over here.

Its nice to see new Fords without the Gillette razor grill for a change.

A Ford I would actually want to own!

I see pictures of things like this and get so steamed... Look at the attention to detail in that interior. It is cars like this and the European Focus that drive me crazy. Why doesn't Ford leverage the good stuff over here?

The Falcon did not slip under the radar for people who read the forums at Blue Oval News.

It may not have slipped under the radar if it was coming over here.

Otherwise, I like the way it looks, inside and out. Like said above, why can't they get some of this stuff over here?

Y'know from the front the blue one sorta looks like a terminator Mustang to me and out back it looks like a GTO.

Geez, you guys are getting hard about the interior when they can't even put the steering wheel on the correct side

Doesn't look too bad, I didn't know El Camino style trucks were so popular in Australia

Yes. It's production. Here's more interior shots:

The Falcon sedan looks pretty good (though not as great as Holden's), but the Ute looks more bland around the bed area next to the Holden. The last edition Utes held their own next to the Commodore Utes, even looking more aggressive in some ways. Not so this round judging by pictures.

I agree about the interiors, though. Ford spent some time on them.

Whoever blocked this car from coming to the U.S. at Ford NA should be put in front of a firing squad. It looks (and I'm sure performs) 10x better than any of their current sedan offerings.

That is a nice looking car! Ford is really stupid for not bringing that here.
