The all you wanted to know about the 5th Gen Camaro FAQ thread....

I think it would be cool if we put everything we knew about a new Camaro togethor in a thread for newbies...maybe even the admins will sticky it. So every one post ONE commonly asked question per post and answer it. Please only post facts or strong rumors..not to be misleading.

I will start...

Q- Will the new Camaro be FWD?

A- No way in HELL!

Q- Why is there no official word from GM on Camaro?

A- Because a contract with the St. Therese plant and the CAW prohibits this until 2005.

Q- Will the next Camaro have retro or progressive styling?

A- That's anyone's guess.

What chassis will the next Camaro be based on?

Too early to tell. Best guess is the chassis that will support the Bengal & Solstice, but it could also be similar to the Holden designed chassis, that will be the basis of the next GTO.

Again, too early in the process for a definate answer.

No, it isn’t cost effective. It will most likely just have a V6 and a V8 much like the 4th Gens did.

Will the interior be refined?

Most likely - YES.
Here's hoping they will stay away from On-Star, HUD, and such, but incorporate some of the materials and finishes found in the imported GTO.

One thing I think I can definately say about the next Camaro, is that it WILL have some form of OnStar as part of the package. It could be a "lite" form of OnStar, but I think that's the one Camaro thing you can bank on.... unless someone cost-cuts it out.

I probably would've come to this assumption on my own. OnStar is something that GM is looking to feature more, and I'm guessing it will be, at the very least, optional on C6. If C6 and the rest of GM's lineup gets it over the next few years it's only logical that Camaro would too.
