I ordered a Black LUX, Off-Road H3 a few weeks ago and will pick it up later this month and it will be placed into the 6 month test fleet for GM-Trucks.com.
Look for alot of pictures, videos, and thoughts on this thing.

A woman I work with bought one of the first ones and she and her husband love it. The first thing her husband did was take it off road on some trails on their property. It held up pretty well he said and they love it.

Once the 2007 model get a power upgrade he still won't like it.They are definatly nice looking SUVs, my friend is thinging of getting one. Interior is sweet (thank you Lutz). They are selling like hot cakes in my area. Once the engine is broken in it should have no problem getting 20mpg

For the money, I'd be a lot happier with a nice GM 1/2-ton pickup, or a lightly-equipped 3/4-ton pickup. Similar weight, similar mileage, far more overall capability. Sure, the pickup would give up a bit off-road, but if that's a concern, either buy something pre-dented (a used Cherokee, perhaps?), or buy a new Dodge Power Wagon.

For the $, I'd also pick something else.

It's a nice vehicle. Only part people here are hating on is the choice of powertrain. Toss in a 5.3 and everybody would love it. For most, the I-5 is the only single gripe.

At least GM has Jeep's self-inflicted wounds going in its favor. Toyota's FJ Cruiser, on the other hand, could provide some interesting competition. 245 HP 4.0 L V6, optional six-speed manual, and a projected price of under $30K for a "well-equipped" 4x4 model. I'm usually not first in line to hug Toyota's nuts, but they're going to be a strong player in this market.

It'll be interesting to see how long the 12.4x1.1" front discs live, considering the curb weight.
