All Corvettes Are Red

I just bought and read this book and really enjoyed it. I decided to buy it based on someones comment in this forum. I don't remember who but I just wanted to say thanks for recommending it to me. I think everyone who enjoys posting in the forum should read it. I had no idea of all the things involved in bringing designing and bringing a car to market. I thought thy would have a tried and true method for doing it, especially for a car like corvette.
Although it doesn't talk about the demise of the Camaro it is much easier to understand why it happened after reading this book.

I read it a few years ago, and I HIGHLY reccommend it to everyone, especially those who perhaps feel GM can snap their fingers and make a car appear overnight.

There is another similar book I read some years ago (till it got stolen from work) that had a section about Fiero's development. I can't remember the name of it, but though I never finished it, it was along the same lines.

All Corvettes Are Red is great reading... especially for people who hang in this forum.

I read it a few years ago as well... I may break it out if I can find the time to read it again.

Exactly It should also be required reading for any engineering student.

A co-worker was telling me about a similar book that tracked the development of the '96 Taurus; anyone familar with this story? I don't have a title or anything, so I haven't had much luck tracking it down.

Yep, it was called:

"This is What Happens When Your Stylists Find Their Long Lost Ellipse Templates."

That's the same book I'm trying to remember. It also had Fiero in it, believe it or not.

Time to play on Google.

I agree. That book will show exactly how NOT to run the largest automobile manufactorer in the world, and even as ***-backwards as GM was during the C5's development, it produced an incredible world-class car due to the hardwork of some diehard car guys within the company.

I've actually spoken of the book several times on this forum because of the content is still very close and accurate. I used to work at GM Design and many of the places and things described in the book were things I saw everyday.
GM plans and policies change almost daily but the politics and interfighting described in the book are very very real.
Glad you enjoyed the book.
-it would be sweet if in a few years someone was able to do the same for a 5th gen Camaro....
