Again, GM isn't sacrificing vehicles in their pipeline!
I've said on at least 3 separate threads that GM will NOT sacrifice upcoming products over their financial problems. Now here it is officially:
Though there will be changes in UAW negotiations, plant capacity, and GM will probally finally abandon this odd policy of producing cars 1st, and figuring out how to sell them later, the new product carnage & doom and gloom is grossly exaggerated. I also said if GM doesn't have a Mustang competitor by 2008 model year, this means GM's probally going to collaspe. GM has $23 billion in the bank and at least as much money in other sellable assets.
As I've said plenty of times already, sit back and just see what happens.

...General Motors Corp. says it won't reduce spending on new models,...
...Chairman and chief executive Rick Wagoner made it clear Wednesday that GM would not let up on its product pipeline because of its financial difficulties - and, in fact, will place even more emphasis on rolling out new models...
..."The board is well informed on our strategy and very supportive of it," he (GM CEO Rick Wagoner) said. "Our focus is on executing the plan." ..
Wagoner said GM will continue its strategy of launching solid products and marketing them effectively.
"Product remains the first and most important element of this strategy to get North America back on track," he said.

Re: Again, GM isn't sacrificing vehicles in their pipeline!
That's the best news so far this week. Now we need some good press to go along with it. Now what do you think the chances of that are? Hmmmm...
Re: Again, GM isn't sacrificing vehicles in their pipeline!
This is a lot better than the other thread that is talking about something being killed.
Note: I'm going to go play with my puppy to make myself happy after reading that other one.

Re: Again, GM isn't sacrificing vehicles in their pipeline!
Im glad that GM isnt getting down on itself, cause they really cant afford too. They need to just push through the crap and get it done. Tough times call for tough measures, and tough people. Spend the money you have and make better cars. Cut down on the people that slow down introduction and ideas. It is good news, and I hope that through all of this, GM ends up with some serious cars. At this point I would like to see GM just come out of this without losing too much, much more begging for a Camaro.
Re: Again, GM isn't sacrificing vehicles in their pipeline!
The insiders AH-HA and Evok at C&G and Hudson at GMI - all of whom have proven accurate over the years - all have said in the last day or two that Zeta is dead in North America. I would not count on any new RWD cars for Chevrolet, Pontiac, or Buick during this decade.

Where is the Chevelle today?
Re: Again, GM isn't sacrificing vehicles in their pipeline!
So now that Zeta has been confirmed dead, do you want to revise your stance guionM? As recently as a couple weeks ago, we were to fully expect at least 2 new RWD sedans within two years from GM.
Zeta was killed last year???
So now GM can run to the comfort of building more ho-hum FWD appliances for the forseeable future. I just don't get it. You'd think such a wildly successful machine like the Chrysler 300 would get someone's attention inside Fort GM....if not hit them upside the head like the proverbial ton of bricks. Love them or hate them, Chrysler's got the red-hot LX platform and Ford will sell 200,000 Mustangs a year, keeping Mustang buyers in the fold while winning over Camaro/Firebird guys....while Chevy plugs along with non-enthusiast oriented FWD offerings.
Bottom line is...lack of "gotta have" products is killing GM. Each of the new cars they've come out with recently is "nice" but not "top-notch", save for maybe the Cobalt. So depressing.

Re: Again, GM isn't sacrificing vehicles in their pipeline!
My question is........does this mean a Sigma Camaro then? (you know, what we were talking about 3+ years ago)........because I refuse to believe that we are NOT getting a Camaro....call me stubborn.

we had zeta, and beta (hypothetical) was supposed to be a spinoff of that, so i'm guessing that zeta and beta have both been killed (in na)
so do you think we're gonna get a caddy chassis camaro?
sounds far-fetched to me personally, but i agree that i think a new camaro is en route

Guy warned us so we wouldn't have to go through all this crap....yet we're sheep to controversy.
